Well, this was an interesting experience. Unfortunately not so great. Our accommodation recommended this place to us which we wanted to try right upon our arrival to Venice.
It is very small and quite tight so I don’t recommend bringing backpacks or luggage (as we did). My partner washed his hands in the bathroom (before eating and after a very long train ride) upon returning to the table, I expressed symptoms of illness. We decided it was best for us (and perhaps even for those around us) that we rest a bit and come back. Well, the lady did not like that, yelled at us on the way out, and slammed the door in our face. Additionally, she opened it once more to tell us that my partner used the bathroom, and slammed the door once again. I guess we have a story to tell but we won’t be coming to this place ever. Anyway can’t judge on the food because I couldn’t even smell anything coming out of the kitchen. The atmosphere was already not so vibrant and lively so maybe this also made my “symptoms” settle enough to feel like I should rest. I just think RESPECT comes before anything else. But try it out...
Read moreWithout a doubt one if the best Gluten free food experiences I have had while in Italy.
We turned up for lunch about 3.30pm on a Monday afternoon, the venue appeared to be staffed by two a young man and a lady in her mid to late 40s, both spoke exceptional English, which was handy for my Neanderthal style of knowing little Italian.
Service was great we explained my gluten allergy and the waiter was well ahead, as well as my starter and main I was served gluten free breadsticks, the first time this had happened in all my Venetian encounters. The pizza was out of this world, it tasted just like a normal pizza, it’s hard because you get used to how a gf pizza tastes, until you eat one that tastes how you remember them, I know they never fobbed me off with a “pretend gf pizza” as many venues will because my allergy is severe!
There were two of us, We had two soft drinks each, starters and mains for 40 euros or there abouts which was also great value given the remoteness of the location! Will definitely return on our next...
Read moreI asked if I could pay to let my daughter to use the toilet because she really needed to go and it was a long walk to any public toilets. I understand they cannot accommodate everyone using the bathroom for free, and I expected to pay. The employee said no, only for customers. Understandable, so I asked to buy a soda and the girl asked her mother ( owner / manager) in Italian if my buying a €4 soda was enough for my daughter to use the bathroom. THE MOTHER ROLLED HER EYES AT THIS!!! So is there a certain euro amount customers have to spend to get toilet privileges? I wasn’t making a scene. I am just a mother trying to help her child to not pee her pants and offering to pay for this service. NO COMPASSION!! Even with this poor treatment, I smiled, paid and said thank you when I received my change. The employee didn’t even look me in the eye, or say anything in response. This is not the Italian hospitality I have seen before. This is my third trip to Italy, and I live in Europe so I know this is very rude and...
