Extremely rude staff, who unfortunately don’t know how to communicate normally as human beings. Let me tell you a story about this bar which was my fav place in Venice. They do serve very good natural wines, prices are fair. I have been here with a group of friend in February and brought my another friend here in June. Both times we came in 2 nights in a row, where first nights always amazing, second ones - we dealt with a female bartender that always acted rude, demeaning and entitled. I am so sorry that I need to specifically point out the gender here, but maybe this will shed some light and action on the matter. What went wrong: my friend and I arrived to Vino Vero at the point when they didn’t have any food and we were getting hungry, so looking at other people seating around with pizza, I went to another place to order one for us. At the first night it was no problem and no comments from the staff. Second time, on another night we were able to get a table by canal, and after a couple of glasses I went for pizza. We had it, ordered more wine, and then when the staff started closing up, we asked for the last round of drinks and we were denied, bartenders told they have already closed. Surprisingly after we saw a couple getting more wine there. So when we faced the bartenders asking why they won’t sell us another 2 glasses of wine, they told us that they have called for the last round and we didn’t order - which was not trye as nobody told us anything or asked us anything. When we told that, they came up with another version. They told us that they saw us having pizza from another place at their table. I was, okay, sorry but you guys don’t have any food, we got hungry, plus we did it yesterday as lots of other people. In return, the staff started to lecture us that this is common sense - you don’t come to a restaurant to eat food from another place. We responded with it’s fair, but you don’t have any food, and moreover you didn’t tell us eating pizza is a problem for you. I asked like 10 times(no joke) why you didn’t make a comment that we can’t eat at the table, we would have step out, eat like 2 meters from the table and return. Nobody couldn’t answer this. After long back and forth discussion one of the bartenders mentioned that he even didn’t see us eating pizza(?!). Throughout the conversation we got comments towards our way from the stuff like “it’s basic education”, “everybody knows this, it’s culture” and more passive aggressive language. This was a ridiculous conflict which could have been resolved easily with basic communication in the...
Read moreLeaving what I think is a very fair review based on our two experiences. The first time, the lady could not be more helpful. I tasted two wines after informing her what I usually like and she gave me a brief outline about them. I chose some brucetta for my husband and I and we had a great afternoon. We stayed for a few hours. We went the very next day as it was so great and I had found a wine I really liked. When I told the man what I'd like he told me they no longer have it. I was slightly surprised as it was less than 24 hours and his response was 'I'm here to sell wine'. I explained I understood that, was just didn't realise their turnover was so quick, so what else could I try that's similar. He walked off and just poured me a sample of something. I asked if anything else as it wasn't exactly what I liked and he argued that this was the highest 'full body' wine they have but a different grape which is why it tasted different in a very patronising way. I was annoyed by this point so just agreed to this wine. He then wouldn't serve my husband a gin but the lovely lady from the day prior explained to him that she agreed to serve him gin the day prior as he is not a wine drinker. He then remembered us and was really nice. Too late in my opinion. We drank our drinks and swiftly left. I felt like a nuisance to him but she couldn't do more for us.... a real shame as I had been...

We stumbled upon this gem late on Sunday afternoon — happy but weary after looking at art all day. It looked promising. Boy, did it live up to/exceed, expectations.
Quirky. Charming. Cozy. Delicious. Busy. Welcoming. Fun. Good local, natural wine. You can taste before you order. Small space. Very limited seating inside & out. Enjoy some outdoor tables/canal seating. (May not be a good option for rainy weather).
Nice mix of people and ages - singles, couples, small groups, tourists, locals, foodies, hipsters, artists, creatives…
Helpful, knowledgeable (and hip) staff. No snootiness or condescension. Good for novices or more knowledgeable wine drinkers.
Stunningly good (& gorgeous) cichetis (local finger sandwich/drinking “tapas”). Non-Venetians and sandwich fans could easily/happily make a meal of these.
No aperol spritz/cocktails! Only good wine!
There are lots of good food and drink options in Venice, but this place...
