So we had actually planned to go next-door however when we got to the restaurant it was empty and the tables outside had no cover (the weather was sun one second then rain the next so we were not risking it). Therefore we decided to go to the next restaurant (Diana's) and I am glad we did as it was a great experience. we started with a couple of Aperol's and then a couple of beers as we had walked a lot and needed to cool off. They had no problem at all with us waiting to eat. When we did go for food we ordered ham and melon as a starter to share (fresh and tasty, perfect for a hot day), then we had carbobnara and a milanese. The food was just lovely, not massive portions which was nice but enough for a nice lunch. We both had wine, I ordered a glass of read and when it came it tasted slightly off, I am not someone to make a fuss so I left it however the waiter noticed, asked me if there was a problem and when I said it did not taste right he replaced it with a different wine, even bringing out a small taste to make sure I liked it first. A really nice tough I really appreciated. It was a great people watching spot, both on the road and on the waterway (some close calls with boats coming round the corners fast, but they are just so good in boats in this city there was never an issue). A lovely spot...
Read moreIf you want a restaurant where the waiter harasses you, this place is perfect for you! The waiter kept asking my friend and I if we were together, then when my friend went to the bathroom, he tried to flirt with me, telling me that he lives in Mestre and that he has a car, so I could come back with him, insisting despite me saying no several times, he kept asking why, if I didn't like Italian men. Then we were eating, he stayed with us to chat, 5 minutes is ok, but when the very intrusive waiter spends the meal with you and doesn't stop, taking your bread from your table to give it to the fish in the canal, it's wrong. When I went to the bathroom, he came back to my friend and kept touching his shoulders and telling him that he was very handsome. He also mimed a sexual and obscene scene. This whole sequence of events was so shocking that it was only when we got home that we understood the seriousness of it. An experience of harassment.
Be careful, there are a lot of fake reviews to hide...
Read moreSo cool we ate here twice in three nights. They gave us spriz and limoncello on the house. The meat was fine, but their pasta was the best I've ever had. The main guy when we came by to sit down grabbed my hand and pulled us to a table, pounding my back, and pulling out the chairs for my wife and I in one fluid motion. I've never seen someone so delighted I've chosen to eat at his restaurant, and hey, that's pretty darn awesome. One guy next to us a sign or something fell on to his table and plate, and you would have thought he was a visiting ambassador how they had him moved with a fresh glad of wine and plate of food before he even knew what had happened. The offending sign was put back (and reenforced), but they moved the table to a better place. That sort of eye for detail and foresight can't be faked. Amazing place, you absolutely must...
