I’d give this place zero stars if I could. What an absolute joke of a business — I’m not sure how it still exists as a casino which is such a shame as we’ve enjoyed casinos all over the world. Also a shame knowing the history and that it could be thriving if you had competent business owners
€50 per person to get in for €20 of chips and a drink — I have a feeling this is a money grab knowing that once people see the casino they would quickly leave. After paying €100 for the both of us we at least wanted to stay for a little to get our moneys worth. Also, I should have read reviews prior because I’m frustrated to find out now that the fee could have been waived because we were staying at a hotel in Venice — there is NO signs for this and of course when we checked in no one offered to tell us that. Took us almost 20 minutes to check in with another couple — we should have known from the start that they didn’t logistically have themselves together.
The building on its own is gorgeous and has so much potential but nothing about this is a luxury experience — It’s so so so so small and despite the beauty has zero ambiance because of the atmosphere they’ve created with rude staff and overall awkward/limited placement of tables and machines. As soon as we walked upstairs, everyone is right on top of each other — you walk right into the tables and it’s shoulder to shoulder. Keep in mind that it’s winter right now — I couldn’t imagine the summer crowds.
A counter was pouring champagne but doesn’t offer any as you squeeze by or even make eye contact so the assumption is it’s not for anyone to have despite glasses being lined up sitting there. Such a few number of roulette tables that as I sit here it’s 5 rows deep, your only chance to bet is shoving your way through. We played for an hour and hardly had an opportunity to bet because it was about a 15 minute wait between each bet with how packed the table is and the dealer is unbearably slow. Everyone’s desperate to have their turn so I was shoved forward over and over again until I had enough of the pushing and left.
Our friends wanted to play Black Jack, a whole group of people were waiting at the table for a dealer — when asked if a dealer was coming, a staff member at the counter told us it wasn’t his problem and to ask someone else. I approached another gentlemen on the floor and he said he didn’t know. When asking a third person they said that there was a table in the back room (that table was €400 a hand).
Plenty of tables to play only if you’re willing to wager big.
No waiters for drinks, you’ll need to figure out where the bar is and get those on your own in a separate room.
We truly don’t mind losing as long as we’re having fun. But it felt like everyone was in a daze here — just silently betting with long faces. Truly a waste of a night for us which is such a shame because we’ve always had memorable nights at casinos.
Btw — don’t worry about listening to the rules about dressing nice — they’ll let anyone in that has a...
Read moreA Disappointing Gamble: An Evening at the Casino of Venice
As I stepped into the Casino of Venice, expectations were high, fueled by the allure of its historical grandeur. Nestled within a stunning Venetian palace, the location promised an evening of elegance and high stakes. However, the reality of my experience was a far cry from the luxurious escapade I had envisioned.
The first impression was indeed promising. The palatial setting of the casino was breathtaking, with its intricate architecture and opulent decor setting the stage for what should have been an unforgettable night. It's a setting that whispers tales of old-world charm and echoes an era of sophistication.
Yet, this initial enchantment was quickly overshadowed by the glaring discrepancies between the casino's prestigious image and its actual atmosphere. One of the most jarring elements was the noticeable disregard for the dress code. While such an establishment might be expected to uphold a standard of formal attire, many patrons roamed the floor in casual wear, starkly contrasting with the casino's elegant backdrop. This lax enforcement of dress code rules by the staff contributed significantly to the erosion of the exclusive ambiance.
Speaking of the staff, their performance was underwhelming. At the roulette tables, their inattention was particularly evident. Engrossed in their conversations, they often overlooked the bets being placed, leading to confusion and disputes among the players. Instances where two patrons claimed the same bet were met with cluelessness from the staff, a scenario that should be inconceivable in any reputable gambling house.
Moreover, the casino's policy of charging a €50 entrance fee adds insult to injury. Such a charge would be justifiable if it ensured an experience commensurate with the opulence of the setting and the promise of exceptional service. Unfortunately, this was not the case. The fee, in the context of the subpar service and the lackadaisical ambiance, seemed an unwarranted demand.
In conclusion, the Casino of Venice, while architecturally magnificent, falls disappointingly short in delivering the refined experience it implies. The disconnect between the grandeur of the venue and the quality of service and atmosphere is stark. An establishment of such historical and cultural significance should offer more than just a visual feast; it should provide an experience in line with its illustrious image. Sadly, my time at the casino was a reminder that not all that glitters is gold. My rating for this experience is a disheartened 2...
Read moreOk here goes…we’ve lived in Italy for 3 years, so we are now used to the culture differences when compared to the states. I felt compelled to actually write a review to inform and protect others about the scam that is the Venice casino.
WHAT A WASTE of time and money. We accepted and understood ahead of time the 50 Euro cover to get in and the time it took to actually check in and access the casino. You receive 20 euro back in chips and a drink coupon. However, once you are in, they have you and they know it. Customer service from that point on is non existent. I’ve read reviews saying that the casino itself is beautiful, but I must say it was “meh” and we’ve seen much more breathtaking places during our time here. Now, onto my comments on the gambling aspect…or lack thereof. There is a room of extremely dated slots and a room that contains 2 baccarat and 2 roulette tables…and that’s it pretty much. I wanted to play my favorites craps or blackjack…but guess what…they had none available other than 1 blackjack table that was $400 MINIMUM. A 20 euro minimum table was open and advertised as available, but a dealer never came even as all seating was filled waiting. Even more, a worker came by and stated the table was “not a bar.” This pissed everyone off understandably. In the end, I could only spend the 20 euro chips on roulette.
I’m writing this because I don’t want others to experience what we did and to spend their money and time elsewhere. An Incredibly...
