I was a bit worried before staying at this hostel, as my previous experiences with hostels have been exceptionally poor. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I was greeted by a very friendly staff member. As a group of four, we were welcomed and allowed into our room ahead of time. Unfortunately, one of the four of us was put in a separate room, although this was entirely our fault as we booked separately. Do take note to book together if possible. However, the very nice receptionist did try to switch around some reservations for us, which was not possible but we appreciated the effort.||||Upon seeing our room, I was very happy to find that the room was clean, and there was no mold in sight. We ended up with a four bed suite and had our own shower directly in the room. Our room, bathroom, and beds were immaculate in comparison to what I had before. The only issue I did have was that the room got a bit cold at night, but this is arbitrary in comparison to how great this hostel was. ||||Other than the rooms, the building was very secure, and I definitely felt safe leaving my stuff there during the day. You are provided with your own closet/locker in your room, which was very spacious and even came with hangers. There was no curfew that we had to deal with, as we could simply scan into the building if necessary. Checking out was simple, and we were able to leave our luggage in the reception area until we needed to pick it up before catching our train. It is important to note that the reception is only open for certain times, so you had to ensure you were back in time to pick up your bags. ||||Overall, this hostel was amazing. I couldn't ask for anything else! While it was a bit tricky to find, it was easy to remember how to get back. The location is perfect as the area is not very tourist-y, but the walk to Piazza San Marco and Il Rialto were very simple and easy to get to. The hostel made my experience in Venice that much better, and if necessary, I would definitely stay at my...
Read moreI was extremely disappointed with this hostel for the accommodations but mostly for their service and management. We were appalled by the management’s service and care to their customers. Our largest issue was this:
We had missed one night’s stay because I was in the hospital with an infection for a day (Intravenous anti-biotics and 12 hours in hospital) and was therefore was unable to make it there. We had phoned as soon as we knew we couldn’t make it, and the staff over the phone said it was not a problem.
Upon check in, the woman behind the desk informed us that it was a 72 hours cancellation policy and without the manager’s permission there was nothing she could do, so we would have to pay now and contact management for a refund. She said she wasn’t sure if the manager was in tomorrow so we could check or send an e-mail. Since it was extenuating circumstances and providing we had all the documentation of the hospital stay, it was unreasonable to pay for both nights. Under the impression she was just a staff member and it was out of her control, we paid for both nights and were going too checked back the following day to see if we could speak to a manager.
The following morning we asked a younger staff member if the manager was in, and she identified the original woman we were dealing with as the manager! We were so thrown that this person, who was so adamant there was nothing she could do without permission, was actually the manager! When speaking to her the second time, she was very dismissive and rude and said to send an e-mail to follow -up. We then sent an e-mail the same day (over 10 days ago now), and have not received any type of response. The management lacks basic customer service skills and compassion.
Furthermore, the property was dirty! There were bugs on our walls, the floors in our room and bathrooms were disgusting. I would not recommend ever staying here! I am very disappointed at this negative impression in such a...
Read moreThe hostel is in a good location, not very far from the vaporetto, but appart from that all the rest is crap!||You must leave the room at 9:30 in the morning, in order that they clean it. It does not matter if you do not want your room to be cleaned, you can not stay there. But it does not mean that you will find your room clean when you come back. ||From 12:00 till 15:00 the hostel is locked, you can not get your luggage, you can not go to the toilet, nothing, you just can not enter in the building. ||At night, you must be back at 12:30 because they close the hostel, and it is true, they do not care if you are not there on time, they will lock the hostel and there is nobody there that can open the doors for you. ||The showers has only cold water, at least in the level that we stayed (second floor), it may be better in the first floor but I did not try. ||Our room's window did not close properly and we were freezing at night, we tried to get covers but after 12:30 there is nobody in reception, so it does not matter what is your problem, nobody cares. And I guess that you can not leave the building even if you need....||The best part is that when we complained to the girl in reception, she got upset and said: well, what can I do? Like if that was not her business....||Very very bad experience in general. They ruined our weekend in Venice. Fortunately we were in another hotel the week before and that was only 15 euros more and very very nice. It is worth to pay...
