Positives: busara with mussels was super tasty. I was impressed with whoever cooked it. Spritz was perfect. Service was kind. Eggplant parmesan was nice, if a little different to what I'm used to. Nice quiet spot away from the crowds and next to a canal. Negs: toilet area smelled strong. Many mosquitos in the evening but of course not their fault. When the tide goes down in the evening the canal is a bit strong smelling; again nothing they can do about such a thing, you forget it after some minutes. For Venice I think it's a nice spot to eat. They should give you some little bowl of chips or something with the Aperol. Venice is expensive and these businesses make the bulk majority of their annual earnings in a few months of the year. Doing vernice on a budget will always require some planning and in my opinion it is not very expensive for Venice in respect to food. I don't drink €47 bottles of wine, so I can't comment on the wine pedigree and cost. The food when we had it just yesterday was very very nice and the spaghetti busara at 14€ in Venice, a...

Not tourist friendly - avoid unless your Italian When we arrived, we were shown to a room in the back with four empty tables. Once seated we were given menus that only had Italian (I understand that we were in Italy but every other restaurant we visited had the menus translated to various languages). The staff appeared to be friendly and translated the menu for us; we placed a simple order of three main courses. As we waited for our food the other three empty tables were filled. As time went on all three tables received food plus additional bread; I assumed that the other tables had ordered starters hence the reasoning for them to get food before us. It was only when our food arrived and I could see that each dish we had ordered had actually been served to the other tables. It is my opinion that all other three Italian speaking tables had been prioritized before us. To be clear; we waited over 1 hour for our food and there was zero apology from staff for the delay. Also it is important to note that the food was not...

We went there twice. The first time was exquisite. The second time the clams had a taste of detergent and my partner had a headache all day long. No refund. Dangerous. EDIT: After two years, reviewing my reviews, I added one star because I remembered the first time was great. After having seen the owner reaction, I went back to one star. Let me also add that the prices you pay don't match those indicated on the menu. And yes, the clams had a detergent taste, I myself tried one, I can confirm my partner's impression. It is their word against ours. Maybe their palate is broken, which would explain. The portion of clams being so small, no wonder already two thirds were already finished. And yes, sometime you need time to realize there is a problem. This kind of defensive reply shows a lack of humanity and...

For a break from the heat, we found this charming, quiet place away from the crowds alongside a less-busy canal with shade and a beautiful breeze. The waitress, Nicole was very helpful in making our menu and wine selections. We started with a glass of Prosecco to go with the bread basket and olive oil. For entrees, I had the Shrimp Ravioli (Ravioli Di Carciofi con Scampi) and my wife had Spaghetti with Shrimp (Spaghetti Alla Busara Di Gamberi E Scampi). Nicole assisted with beautiful and appropriate wine selections to pair with our meals. The location was perfect, service friendly and welcoming. Food was excellent. Shade and breeze a bonus. I highly recommend Osataria Santa Fosca. You will love the calm, peaceful location, friendly staff, delicious food and reasonable prices.

The place has a really lovely ambience which seems to be lacking in most of the other places in Venice. During our visit, they had candles outside, which, of course, made this experience very romantic. Imagine, sitting in Venice by the canal and on your table is a candle. All around dark. Romantic. Since we had dinner in another restaurant, we came just for dessert. We ordered tiramisu and something that was called Freddo which turned out to be ice cream. Each dessert was 6€. While ice cream was quite interesting and eatable, tiramisu was totally disappointing disaster! It was FROZEN!!! On the menu, nothing was mentioned that tiramisu is frozen. Which means not fresh. Was totally not tasty and such things should be mentioned on the menu, otherwise, you are fulling your customers.

My father and I ate here on Oct. 15th 2024 and I have to say, they are NOT friendly towards tourists. They talk behind your back in Italian (yes, just because we don’t speak in Italian to you, doesn’t mean we don’t understand what you are saying!) The table next to us (also native Italians) were talking crap about us as well (again, we CAN understand you…) It’s interesting to see what people say to right in front of you just because they don’t think you can understand them. Obviously these people have a stick where the sun don’t shine…
