Rude service. The lady at the counter could not have been more rude when we were ordering. The special was honey lemon, so we tried to order a scoop of that and another flavor. It was not clear that honey and lemon were 2 separate flavors. The woman literally rolled her eyes when we wanted to add another flavor because we didn't know. She scooped the gelato back into the bucket and violently threw the cup into the trash can and grabbed a larger size, because 3 flavors are apparently not allowed in that cup size. We tried to ask about the ricotta flavor and she was snippy and wouldn't give us an answer. She then scooped that flavor into the cup before we said we didn't want it. She then threw the cup into the garbage again and started complaining about us to her coworker. It was such a bizarre, outrageous, and rude interaction. I do not recommend going here unless you want to deal...

I got the basil and local honey gelato. The basil was just ok but I was expecting it to be a sorbet. Instead it was a creamy one which kind of overpowered the basil flavor, so it's not strong and has a very subtle mellow taste of basil and mostly taste like milk. I have had better basil gelato at other places in Europe so it's seems a bit overrated here. I also learned (after I bought the gelato and read some reviews) that you can have it served with olive oil, but you need to specifically request for it, which is also quite stupid. I didn't know that and there was no sign for it and no one who told me so it's impossible to know unless you read the reviews...

In the running for top gelato. Great little spot with plenty of staff so you don’t have to wait. It was so good I actually went back in the same day. Tried both the coffee and the pistachio. Both were tasty but the pistachio had the edge.

Best part was while I was eating my ice cream the owner Alberto came out of the shop at the end of his shift. He checked in on a family that he sold ice cream to earlier and asked them how it was. They said it was great and then asked if he could take a photo with them. He stopped and chatted for a few minutes and took the photo at the end of the shift when you could tell he was on his way to get home. What a great...

I’m pretty sure most gelato would have tasted good after climbing all of Corniglia’s stairs, but Alberto’s was definitely worth the hype! We got the basil lemon and honey (miele de corniglia) flavor, and both were delicious. We also tried the lemon slushees – other reviews have mentioned that they were mostly ice, but we found them to be refreshing and very flavorful! The store is tucked into one side of a narrow alleyway that gets crowded easily, so try to exit the area after getting your dessert so other people can pass through. We sat on the benches in the main plaza by the bus stop, where there was also a nice view of the mountainside.
