Girabaldi came well recommended by a co-worker. The location at the corner of the piazza was very nice for enjoying a good meal while out in the square. Outside seating was great. It did rain later and we moved inside. But the rain abated and I was able to finish my meal outside. No food service before 1900, so come later, or have drinks first and relax (I did the latter). I would recommend a reservation, but I was a party of 1 AND early, so easily seated. Cafe and beer selections were good. Table service included chips and bread with the drinks. Once dinner was available I started with the tartar, it was the usual ground beef, (enough for 2-3 to share) with several complements (diced onion, mustard, etc…). I went with the steak and potatoes for dinner, and I was not disappointed. Steak was perfectly m.rare with olive oil, salt & pepper for complements. The roasted potatoes were nicely well seasoned. So far all the flavors and portions were very good. To top it off I enjoyed the lemon mojito dessert after all the richness of the meats it was perfect. My ticket was just under $70e for more food than I could finish and very good quality/flavor.
I would highly recommend this wonderful restaurant!
As a note…it was busy so service was a little slower at the end (took me almost 20 minutes to get the check and pay). But this is Italy, take your time and don’t...
Read moreUPDATE (5stars for caffe): Our favorite coffee place in Vicenza. You will see us almost every Sat or Sun morning. Their caffe or coffe and macchiato or macchiatone are fantastic (and yes not all caffe/coffee are same). Their brioche or croissants are great also. Not heavy, but soft and flaky outside. Maybe a little more pricey than other local cafe's, but we are talking 10cents or so. Good service and the view is fantastic.
After stopping for many coffee breaks, we finally tried their food. Assuming they have to maintain certain standards since El Coq (michelin star restaurant) is on the second floor, this cafe was also was pristine and excellent. We ordered beef plate, pork dish, ribs, and fish. Being a fancy restaurant, portions were definitely small, but not a big deal. One thing I did enjoyed the most was the bread. It was fresh and still warm. The best bread I had so far in Vicenza. I think you could definitely enjoy the food and the atmosphere....
Read moreService: they are very slowly on average. All waiters will let you wait from table taking to orders and preparations. Waiters positions changes constantly, they are not up to the level the restaurant prices of a 5 star hotel. Dress code well far below any level.
Dishes: after long waiting the result not worthy except of handmade cakes. Average local receipts overpriced. Even the last Dammann Tea is totally disappointing:
Overall: disappointed. Prefer true 5 star hotel restaurants that deliver...
