Overall I had a great experience here! The food was delicious, the environment was cozy and intimate. We are visitors and had seen so many places with just okay reviews for seafood bowls and saw that this place was highly rated amongst locals! It’s not in a Main Street but don’t let that deter you from trying it!
//CONTEXT// We visited Atami in mid-October for a short two day trip. We are a party of two in total. We came around 11:30 am for an early lunch.
//ENVIRONMENT// It was not crowded yet when we went there. We were seated immediately. There are about 3-4 tables/booths and a counter seating.
//FOOD// We had the seafood bowl which was so delicious! It came with a variety of fish which tasted fresh. The seasoned sushi rice was amazing!
We also had the horse mackerel fried fish. That was also delicious and the battering was perfectly fried. Add some vinegar or katsu sauce to it!
Both dishes came with miso soup, and some sides.
Coke was okay, it wasn’t very carbonated (I noticed many cokes here don’t have much fizz in general though)
//SERVICE// We don’t speak Japanese but we were able to get by! The service was prompt and this feels like a mom and pop shop. They were friendly and helpful.
//PRICE// Seafood bowl was 2800¥ and mackerel was 1600¥ as of Oct 2023.
//OVERALL// As much as I wanted those cool towering bowls of seafood I didn’t want to compromise on taste and am so happy we...
Read moreWith the mix of the Japanese culture of the owner and his wife's Korean culture, their food shows a master example of food mix and match. For instance, they have Japan Sashimi, sweet stew fish, Korean raw crab 🦀 :))) The price is friendly and so is the owner. Although they do not know English, they try their best to serve us!!!
This is a definite 5-star restaurant for those who want to experience local Japanese culture.
This is the perfect place to end a day after a...
Read moreDelicious food and great service!! We loved the cheese topokki so much that we ended up getting another serving before leaving. The fish is fresh, and the kimchi is delightfully refreshing with only slight spicy and sour hints. The seafood pancake was crispy on the outside and soft and gooey on the inside, and it was absolute perfection. The beef kalbi tasted just like what we would get at home in the states!! Definitely coming back here whenever we...
