Five Star Deli Roast beef sandwich The Santa Maria inspired roast beef sandwich is probably the most delicious roast beef sandwich I’ve ever had. Five star deli really knocked it out of the park. The tri tip is perfectly smoked and thinly sliced to the point to where it just melts in your mouth. The horseradish aïoli is a perfect blend of aïoli and horseradish so that it opens up the pallet and you can take in more of the smoked roast beef flavor. The focaccia bread is the perfect choice for the sandwich because it doesn’t overwhelm the pallet and it’s soft and pillowy without having to fight it. The staff is super friendly, bathroom is nice and clean, and general atmosphere is simple but welcoming.

For the customer: Don’t be afraid to ask the staff their recommendation. They know what is freshest and the best deal of the day. Clean up after yourself because there are only two tables outdoors. I recommend the Roast beef to-go and enjoy it on the sea wall just up the road.

For the business: Great job with the menu. It’s simple, which is very important to me. My only advice with the roast beef would be to experiment with the lettuce. Iceberg lettuce is only a filler in my opinion; try a dark leaf lettuce to compliment the bread.

I witnessed very unprofessional behavior at this place. A delivery driver was mocked and treated with disrespect by what appeared to be the owner or a staff member. It wasn’t just rude—it was humiliating. And judging by the reaction, this seems to happen often to delivery workers.

It made me wonder how they would react if a driver spoke to them the same way. Luckily, the driver stayed calm and walked away, avoiding conflict.

No one deserves to be treated like that while simply doing their job. If they treat workers this way, how do they treat customers?

I strongly advise anyone considering this place to think twice. There’s a high chance of poor service and a lack of basic respect.

If you have a family and you're the main provider, then you should start treating people with respect—especially those who are working just like you to make a living. Because if this kind of behavior continues, the number of negative reviews will only grow.

As the head of both a family and a business, you should be setting a good example. What you did was not just disrespectful—it was unacceptable.

Delicious food (awesome vegan option), cool place (both the vibe & air conditioning) and exceptionally warm-hearted staff. Plenty of space to stay, relax, and enjoy your meal there or they have cute little takeaway boxes if you are on-the-go. Quite a special place, when you order you'll be asked if you're okay with everything listed on your sandwich's description...really unusual in Japan. American's are used to the "have it your way" style of ordering food but in Japan it is not the cultural norm to individualize everything. It can be considered quite a rude expectation so it's really special that at Five Star Deli they are going out of their way to cater to American comfort. Also, if you get a chance to stay and eat your meal there, right now you'll get to enjoy whimsical art by Rodel Santo Domingo.
