I've been on Okinawa for 4 years. I've searched high and low to find a place to get a good burrito only to be disappointed at every turn. Sadness overwhelmed me. Until one day by chance I was driving down the road and was stopped at a red light. I look over and there it is... Guacamole Burrito Truck.
"Could this be it?" I ask myself cautiously. I've been hurt before. I turn on my blinker and pull into the parking lot. I walk up to the side of the truck and in a shaky voice I ask "One carnitas burrito and a mango juice, please." You see, the man speaks perfect English which is perfect for the American or foreigner who longs for a great burrito. I pay the man 750 yen for the burrito and 300 yen for the mango juice but to be truthful I would have spent so much more.
On the outside I sit patiently. However, inside is a storm. I wait with baited anticipation for the burrito and when it came out I found myself staring. He put the burrito down in front of me and I must have blacked out because the next thing I remember was the burrito was gone and I was eating quesadillas.
The one thing I do remember? The delicious, lingering taste and a...
Read moreA pretty neat little place. I ended up coming here after the place I was originally going to eat at told me they had scraped their vegan menu. The owner is very animated and enthusiastic about his work, which always makes an experience more fun! I got the vegan burrito, which was overflowing with guacamole and fresh greens. It was a beautiful night, so I sat at the little table and had time to really enjoy the meal. The juice was very refreshing and the burrito was filling. Really, the only negative thing I could say about it was that the vegan burrito is a tad bit bland. Even with the hot sauce, it tastes like it’s missing something. Maybe if there could be a seasoning that was added to the filling right before it was rolled, it would help? Overall, for a dining experience that I hadn’t originally been anticipating, this wasn’t bad at all! I pass by this place all the time, so it has the added bonus of being...
Read moreMy family and I were driving around looking for a place to grab breakfast. We see this burrito truck all lit up with lights hanging up and flags on display totally looking like it’s open for business so my wife suggests it. Even though we tried this food truck a couple of years ago and wasn’t very impressed, but we figured it’s probably healthier than McD’s. So I whip a Chicano u-turn and pull up. I walk up to the truck and the guy inside opens the window and says in Japanese with attitude “we don’t open until 11!”, and then looks at me like I should know what time his rust bucket joint opens. Hey pal, maybe don’t turn on the outside lights and hang you open flags if you don’t open for another hour. And don’t worry, we...
