Chatan Park Sunset Beach — Attraction in Chatan

Lovely beach with nice fine sand, my kids and I were good with out swim shoes. That being said, if you plan on coming to swim, check the level of the tide in advance. I, unfortunately did not, and at the lowest point of the designated swimming area the water only comes up about .1 - .2m making it virtually impossible to “swim”. At high tide it appears to be about 2m deep, however.

I love this beach, except Annoying usa jet fighters are flying continuously over it very loudly all day long. I feel pity for Okinawa civilians. I could give this beach a 5-star if it was quiet.

You can rent a beach chair and umbrella for 3000 yen. Toilet, shower and beverages are available.

The beach is clean and child friendly. Unfortunately, the staff is rude and gives you the impression of being in a kindergarten. You are not allowed to go a meter beyond the buoys and at 5 pm they force you out of the water. It is absurd that they seriously think they can close the ocean!
