Ok first thing first is the atmosphere. It’s hot inside on a hot summer eve. The AC is on but with the stove and kitchen it’s just hot. However having had their Yakisoba dish #3. I had to have another but just the Yakisoba by itself. Some reviewer from before posted it was meh or greasy or whatever, but others who have been here have enjoyed it and the staffs company. Nice friendly atmosphere, good for drinks and Yakisoba and pork items. Ichigaki island in Okinawa comes to mind when I think of their pork. Tonight we had a variety of their dishes including their jumbo mushroom ( common in Canada ) but still it was enjoyed by us. Overall, I’m giving them a top notch rating. And we got to meet some people travelling from France! Plus they have a Blair’s hot sauce that is nice and Smokey to try for some extra heat. It’ll clean your pores from the sweat.

I was visiting Fujinomiya and wandering around town before climbing Mount Fuji the next day and happened upon Fujiboku. Man I’m glad that I gave it a try! Billed as a “Premium Pork Cafe and Restaurant”, it certainly lived up to its name. It’s a small, cozy place that is open late, has attentive service and excellent food! While I could not read the Japanese menu, I could see the pictures and pointed to what I wanted. It was cooked up fresh within minutes. I am totally satisfied with the meal, service and ambiance. I would highly recommend Fujiboku if you’re in the area and hankering for some pork and unique Japanese dishes with a touch of western in them.

When in Fujinomiya, eat yakisoba! A word of caution, once you try this, many others will fall short. The first bite revealed layers of flavours; peppery, smoky and the sour-salty flavours of the sauce. Texture of noodle was nicely firm and served “dry” (vs drenched). Specialty noodle used was slimmer than the norm. Also, the local specialty “LYB” pork belly was super tender, and like they say, it melted in my mouth. Will definitely head back for another serving before I leave here.

This place is a must visit if you are in Fujinomiya. The owner Kenichi-san is incredibly friendly, as are the remainder of the staff. The dishes are all delicious with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The umeshu (plum wine) is made in house and is a fantastic pairing with the pork dishes, which are balanced well with some of the finest pork I have had in my life. If (when) I come back to Japan, I will definitely be returning here.

I can confidently say this was the best meal I've had in Japan so far on this trip. Everything from the atmosphere, staff, food, and the amazing owner ケン-さん (Ken) who showed me the true kindness of his heart. Him and his staff were so happy to chat with me even though my Japanese is very poor. I will most definitely be coming back for the food and the amazing staff and owner who run FujiBoku!!! かあんぱい, Canada

Great little place, friendly owners/staff, delicious food. Small menu specialising in Yakisoba with various cuts of pork. Yakisoba was tasty and fresh, not greasy or soggy, and a very nice serving size. Pork was super tender and flavourful. Good drinks selection with a couple local craft beers too.
