麺処 寅路 — Restaurant in Fujiyoshida

We were on our way back to the bus station, caught in the cold and heavy Fuji rain, and we just ran into this cozy ramen spot , and surprise it a truly local Japanese restaurant, but very foreigner-friendly: you can order easily through an iPad with English options.

We tried the special ramen and the dumplings. The ramen was excellent — rich in flavor, and you can even choose your preferred noodle texture (soft, normal, or hard). But the real highlight? The dumplings. Homemade, crispy on the outside, and bursting with juicy soup and flavorful sauce inside. Absolutely delicious!

For context, I'm a foreigner travelling in Japan. I didn't prepare very well and don't have a physical card, just a tap card on my phone and very little cash. This place does not accept cards, and I didn't have enough cash. The owner said it was okay and let me go. It was very kind of him, and I made sure to return it to him later that day. Was a bit skeptical when the other reviews labelled it as the best. However, we've been travelling around Japan for 5 weeks now and I was really disappointed at the ramen and this changed everything.
