The price comes up a lot in these reviews. This is an expensive meal but omakase is generally expensive. There are three price levels at this sushi restaurant: 16,500yen (only for lunch) 33,000yen 55,000yen There are several rare and seasonal fish on the 55,000 level as well as a rare humpback prawn and uni that I’d never tasted before. The cooked dishes were noteworthy with no afterthoughts. The boiled grilled and fried selections were familiar but excellent.
If you can afford it, enjoy it. If you can’t then don’t.
The rice is unusual and good. It doesn’t taste like typical vinegar heavy sushi rice. On the site, the chef details the preparation of the rice. This is old school sushi. The chef makes his own ginger and soy sauce. There is nothing flashy about this. This is not an exhilarating. This is not morimoto. This is slow flood in fukuoka. You eat what is offered. Everything is a composed bite. This is an artisanal experience.
I loved the mackerel shima-aji and the anago (salt water conger eel). My wife was team uni (sea urchin).

Extremely overpriced for what it is. When booking on their website, there are two menus to choose from for dinner. One is 33,000yen and the other 55,000yen. We opted for he 25,000yen menu since it would be our first visit. When we arrived we noticed the other 3 diners (local Japanese) had a different menu. We took note of what they had (we assumed it was the more expensive menu) vs ours and were so glad we didn’t opt for the more expensive menu. For a sushiya to charge 55,000yen it would have to be a top tier one in a city like Tokyo, but keep in mind we’re in Fukuoka here. The chef did offer a few pieces of fish using aging techniques which was special but for the price we paid we expected a higher quality of skill. What really bewildered us was whether the locals would actually pay such an amount for...
Read morePrice was rather misleading when you book as its says JPY25,000 omakase dinner, and refundable deposit of JPY36,300. The actual price is JPY36,300. They charge your card beforehand and its not refundable from 7 days before.
Food was not fresh, its a hit or miss for dishes I had better takeaway sushi. Overall the first few was drenched in soy sauce I found it too salty and couldn't taste the dish while some dishes like the clam sushi is good and grouper soup was okay.
Service was great however the food was lacking as I have tried much better omakase elsewhere, very expensive and not sure it should be...
