I think this place is definitely value for money, the meal portion is huge and i pay a bit more to upgrade from miso soup to fish soup which is delicious. The sauce of the sea bream is a bit over the sweet side for me, the fish is very meaty and it is not fishy at all so that’s good. Overall, i think it’s pretty good. The place is more like a cafeteria and can get quite busy during lunch time. If you are looking for something fancy or more proper than you should reconsider. Anyway, i will go back again.

Very delicious. Fresh fish. Decent amount of fish. I ordered Madai Goma Don Set (sea bream and sesame sauce on rice). 1680¥ includes the rice topped with fish, miso soup, and a selectable side dish (I chose pork and radish. The other choices are grilled egg, steamed egg, kinako pudding, and salad). There are chilli powder and Sancho (Japanese pepper) powder, and sesame soy sauce on the table. Sancho is so good. I love it. It gives the right kick to the food. I put it on my side dish and in the soup.

福岡に来ると自分はいつも「びっくり亭」ばかりなので(^_^;)、たまにはお魚を！とアンテナを張ると、田中田がプロデュースする人気店『わっぱ定』が筆頭に。う〜ん、宿泊地は天神北でお店は警固と天神か。どっちに行こうかな〜と迷いましたが、よくよく調べて見るとメインメニューは揚げ物や肉物が中心。それではと、今回はこちらのお店をチョイス。こちらも田中田で修行なさった方のお店なんですよね。お店は地下鉄薬院大通駅を出てスグの所にありますが、隣の薬院駅からは勿論、気合を入れれば天神駅からでも歩いてこれそうです。どことなくフェミニンなメニューデザインも「わっぱ定」ソックリ。色々とバリエーションがある中で、刺身と天ぷらの合盛りが珍しいなと思い、海老づくしの『ピチッピチッハサミ丼(¥1,480)』をオーダー。チョイス可能なサイドは、“本日の小鉢”でお願いしました。やってきた丼には、カニの爪が４本、蒸し海老に甘海老が少々、そして主役の大海老天が突き刺さるように盛られており、その上には、海苔、ネギ、紫蘇の葉がまぶされています。こちらのお料理、パッと見は悪くないんですが、実のところ、カニは乾燥してカスカス、ペラペラの蒸し海老と細い甘海老は安い回転寿司で出てきそうなチープなグレード。海老天は別皿に取ってから天丼のタレをかけて頂きますので、ほぼ一緒に盛る必然性は無し。インスタ映え？その代わり、海老天を外した丼は見事に貧弱なものでした。その海老天だけはサクサクのプリプリでこちらはいい塩梅の美味しさ。長くて食べごたえも十分にあり、博多で頂く天ぷらにハズレは無し。それでいて、小鉢は蒸したじゃがいもに明太子ソースをかけたもので博多らしい工夫がされていてマル。お味噌汁はとても出汁が効いていて、流石は田中田のエッセンスが詰まっている見事な美味しさです。お店は綺麗だし接客もしっかりなさっており、メイン以外のお料理は合格点。今回は選択肢を間違えたかなぁ、胡麻鯖あたりにしておくんだったか。また次の機会に訪れてみたいと思います。
