This was one of the worst Omakase sushi dining experiences we've ever had. The food was passable, but the service was absolutely terrible. We're not sure if this level of service is the restaurant's standard, but one thing we do know is that Fukuoka is a wonderful city filled with great restaurants that are worth your time and money—and we definitely won’t be returning here because of the experience we had.
There was an insect in one of the dishes, and instead of offering a sincere apology or any form of compensation, the staff simply replaced the dish and acted like nothing happened. There was no proper explanation of the dishes either—we had to keep asking what each item was and how we were supposed to eat it. Even the basic service was poor. Our water glasses were constantly empty, and the staff never refilled them unless we called them over. They were inattentive, neglectful, and unprofessional—worse than what you'd expect from even a casual restaurant.
The worst part was how slow everything was. No one came to check if we had finished each course, and need to wait for long time. So, in the end after almost 1.5 hour, we ended up having to rush the pace ourselves just to get things moving. We had to constantly press the call button to let them know we were ready for the next dish. It got to the point where, when the dessert was finally served, we asked if that was the end, only to be told there was still one more soup dish left. We told them to bring it together with the dessert to save time. But right after serving the soup—which I hadn’t even touched yet—they brought the bill without us asking for it and stood there pressuring us to pay immediately. As soon as we paid, they told us to leave because the next guests had arrived—all while I hadn’t even tasted the soup I had asked them to bring out quickly in the first place. What kind of service is this? Why rush us when the delay was entirely on your end? From our perspective, none of this should...
Read moreDon’t usually give bad reviews but am very disappointed with my recent dining experience at this Michelin-rated restaurant. The service was lacking, as the waitress was unable to explain the dishes and had limited English skills, which made it difficult to understand the menu and our options. Many just stood in a line and look clueless. To make matter worst, the chef also seemed grumpy and impatient, and there was little effort to accommodate our needs or offer guidance, especially when compared to other Japanese sushi places where chefs often go out of their way to make guests feel welcome—even if they don’t speak English. It seems like another ordinary (regular) sushi place but charges an exorbitant pricing.
Additionally, the dishes did not appear fresh, which was quite disappointing given the restaurant’s reputation. Overall, I expected a more welcoming and attentive experience, especially at a Michelin-rated...
Read moreWe read this was a one star Michelin in Akasaka so we tried their Fukuoka branch. We got the sushi top selection course published at JPY 17.8k a set. They placed us in a small closed off area to enjoy our meal. The sushi course was ok, really liked the chawanmushi, roe egg, uni and toro. What I found super annoying was because they placed us in a small room, they would knock every two minutes to present the next platelet of sushi. I asked to keep the door open so they don’t have to knock but they closed the door anyway. When presenting the next meal I said to wait please cause I wasn’t done but they placed the next plate anyway. Likely lost in translation but the constant knocking destroyed the vibe. Removing that, experience was okay but I’ll spend our jpy 40k (after tax) elsewhere. At least now I know, and...
