Hmm. The saving grace of this hotel is the location of Hakata Train Station and self-serve laundry machines. Honestly, based on other reviews, star ratings, and the cost per night, I expected more - especially for Japan. Walking in, you're immediately hit by a strong aroma of cigarettes and you somehow time-travel back to the 1970s: think mirrored walls and bright carpets. Check-in was fair although deperatly underwhelming. The first room we were given was a smoking room and I think the amount of nicotine on the walls and soaked into the curtains was the equivalent of huffing a pack of Malborough in one sitting. In fairness, they did move us to a non-smoking room on request, with zero hesitation. This next room was a little better but still had a strong cigarette odour. The curtains were fixed in place which allowed little natural light so we had to manage with artificial office-style lighting. The "couch" was akin to a piece of plywood covered with old and stained material. The wardrobe had about 2 years' worth of dust on the ledges. One bed was so soft you dropped a floor when getting into it whereas the other was the other half of the plywood from the couch. My husband located the fridge in the wardrobe and even after hours, items were lukewarm at best. The bathroom smelled like damp laundry that had been forgotten about and sat for days in the machine, although I did get a chuckle out of the mustard-coloured sink and toilet. I'm not a Howie-Mandel-germaphobic but let's just say I tried to move and touch as little as possible during my stay. On the bright side, there was an AM radio of sorts to tune into which again just made me wonder how old this place is and how badly it needs updating. 100%, this equipment should be on display in a Natural History Museum. I hate giving sh*tty reviews but I'm quite perplexed at the high ratings, were we even in the same hotel? If you have zero other options, I guess it would work but frankly so would pulling an all-nighter in the train station.

So large and comfortable!! The location is the best, right next to Hakata Station for trains and directly in front of the bus stop too~ All major shops and restaurants can be found in the shopping malls either in the station area or just behind it. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Reception is on the third floor, and there are 3 elevators to access this as well as a nice staircase. I did not get time to try the restaurant but the menu seemed nice and had very reasonable prices. The room itself is very spacious (twin room) and has a great selection of amenities if you don't have your own. I liked so much that there was a sofa and small table plus a writing desk to sit at. This is a great place if you have some work to do on a laptop and you dislike using it in bed.

Stayed for 4 Nights with Breakfast, only had breakfast for the first day, all other days we had early trains, for 3 days hotel provided Bento 🍱 which one can choose from the list. Had to book Bento one day in advance. Location Get out from Shinkasen Central gate, turn right, take the exite, the Hotel is in front on the right side. Hotel need to start breakfast at 6:30 instead of 7AM. There was no English Tea option in the room, only left 2 Coffee and 2 milk. Should have option to pickup in the reception. Old hotel with Very good size room

Don't do it. Whatever you are thinking, if you are Western, don't pick this place. Let's start with the staff. The hotel staff were very good, but it was apparent they knew they were staffing a sub-par hotel. They did the best they could for us. We don't smoke and booked a non-smoking room, but after check-in, we went to our room, and it was clearly smoked in a lot. It was gross. The windows don't open either. When I turned on the little air conditioner, it just made the smoking smell worse. I called the front desk, and they promptly sent us to another room. The second room still smelled of the pachinko parlour on the first floor. Cigarette smoke, but not like someone was smoking in the room...it just permeated the entire HVAC system. The room temperature was also non controllable; when you try to adjust it, you are met with a display that says central control, local control unavailable. The room was hot with zero air flow except the little ac machine. I think it was about 25c. Way to hot to sleep. I called the front desk, and they did bring us a pedestal fan. We needed to keep that running non-stop, or it was like just sitting in a room full of stale used pachinko air. The two twin beds could not be less similar. One felt like a piece of plywood with a camping foam mattress, and the other felt like a tottaly worn out hide a bed so when you laid down on it, you sunk about 2 feet. Then there was the sitting bench. I swear this was built out of 2 x 4 and had fabric laid across it in two layers, and that was the cushion. Sit in this bench with a fan blowing on you or lay on the bed and either sink to the floor on one or sit on a piece of plywood on the other. Then there was the bathroom...OMG...it was so bad. You opened the door, and it immediately smelled like a bunch of wet towels that were hiding under the floor. The shower pressure was ok, but the whole room must have mold under the Japanese floor drain system because of stagnant water that didn't drain properly. Occasionally, in the night, I could hear a gurgle from the bathroom floor drain as some sitting water from my shower hours earlier finally found a way to drain. This was the worst hotel bathroom I have ever been exposed to, and I have been to Vietnam, Thailand, Cuba, and many other non first world countries. Bottom line...pay more and stay somewhere else. We were fooled by the reviews and thought it was convenient for a one night stay... but never...

We booked the hotel because of it’s excellent location which right next to Hakata station and with many good restaurants nearby. Our period of stay was from 07-12Sep and we were staying in 12/FL. We checked in at the reception on the 3rd floor and while checking in for the hotel, I knew that I can’t expect too much with the hotel as everything looked so outdated to me. ||||With no surprise, the room was spacious but everything inside the room was so ‘OLD’. The furniture, the beds and the bath room all from the 80’s. A heavy down quilt has been prepared for each bed even in this time of the year. We have to turn the air-con to very high at night in order to entertain the down quilt. However, the air-con stopped automatically in the middle of the night when the room temperature reached to certain level, and it started up again after a minute or two, but with a noise that waked us up. ||||The hotel provides a ‘dress’ to each room guest and placed on the bed. It looks like to me something between a pyjama and a thin bathrobe. But the problem is it looks like it has been washed for a thousand times and you may not want to wear it. On the third night and after taking a shower, I found one of the big towels got some strange smell and may be that particular one did not go through proper cleaning process. Fortunately it didn’t happen in rest of the evenings.||||The hotel provides simple breakfast. Tastes of the food were fine but choices are very limited. A chef was there to prepare 3 styles of omelette as per requested. However, they don’t provide fried egg even requested by customers. A very strange principle that they want to stick with.||||As a whole, it’s not worth for the...
