Please, concern the choice of restaurants that represent APA hotel at different cities around Japan. We visited the restaurant with Motsu nabe on the Culture Day, a national holiday, and that was a pity service. There was only one young boy working and we had to wait quite long. The food was not the best as well as another APA restaurant at Ueno Tokyo. Why do you choose restaurant with no reputation and experience? They just ruin your reputation as well. You should pay more attention to it. I understand the idea to have different style of local food restaurants in every other of you hotels. But if you do it with not professional partners your guests will think that this is an unprofessional decision of hotel. The food at your hotels should be much better. It is not the first time we stay with my husband at APA HOTEL chain around Japan. When we came to Fukuoka first it was a great unpleasant surprise that there was no iron at such a big hotel. If you come for a business trip and you can not iron your shirts and sits for a meeting at least provide this service like you other hotels around the country. It is very weird that you have a laundry machine but you do not have an iron for your guest. At least one piece iron for such a huge hotel where people mostly visit for a business trip, please! There is a strange policy for water! When you go onsen there is no any drinking water there, only ice-machine at the first floor. People do not like to come down after taking bathtub to the front to get ice and cool down after hot bathtub. At least there was a bottle of water that was coming daily after cleaning service. We were staying here for 14 days and every time the hotel staff left us two bottles of water. However, the last day of our staying they did not give it. The explanation was we do not give you water if we change your sheets. Common, you did it for nine days including the change of sheets when necessary and why you didn’t do it the very last day?! Is it necessary to spoil the experience of staying at Fukuoka’APA for the cost of 100 yen bottle of water? If we stay at hotel for just 2-3 days then I understand. We reserved your hotel for 14 days! Why are you spoiling guest experience that much? My husband takes medicine after operation every day and we didn’t expect you will refuse us a bottle of water. There was a huge construction just under our windows day and night. There was so much inconvenience that we have closed our eyes for the loyalty to APA HOTEL. You could have try to do more to appreciate your guests who reserve your hotel at Covid times for such a long time. Do not recommend this...

I highly enjoyed my stay at APA hotel. I am writing a Review to clarify some points that I thought were confusing when I was reading other reviews. There is an onsen spa that is free for guests; separate spa for men and women. It was very well maintained and very clean in my opinion. I enjoyed my time there very much. If you are a foreigner like me, be sure to read up on onsen etiquette beforehand so you are being respectful to the other guests. There is one indoor onsen, one outdoor onsen, and one shigaraki ware onsen. I highly recommend the onsen spa! I used it everyday of my stay and was definitely a highlight. The swimming pool is a separate extra cost (approx $10/hour). I don’t think the pool is noteworthy, it is quite small and nothing special. The rooms are indeed small, but very functional and clean. I even find it quite cozy! We were able to open two carry-on luggages without blocking the door. Luckily we had no large luggage or else this room would become quite uncomfortable. Therefore if you like to travel with a lot of stuff, you may want a bigger hotel. The staff was very nice. The first room they gave us had the window view completely blocked by the next building. We asked if we could change the room and the front desk was very helpful and swapped out our room keys within a few minutes. We received the same room layout but with a window facing the city and mountains, which made for a wonderful sunrise view. Breakfast is an additional cost. It is a Motsunabe breakfast, like a Japanese hot pot. It was very delicious with fresh ingredients and reasonably priced.

The only complaint I have (which I have also read from other reviews), is that the shower curtain in the bathroom needs a deep cleaning. It is a bit moldy at the bottom and smells awful. This was also an issue at the APA hotel in Tokyo. I hope that they can improve the method of cleaning the...

Room is small, luggage need to be stowed away under the bed, basically can only open 1 luggage at a time. Generally clean but can see stain on curtains. Basic stuff for grooming are given in the room. The major disappointment for the room is that it is central aircon/heating and during the times we are there, they switch to heater and it’s hot, so we ended up switching it off and open the window (which lets the cold air in).

The tv only have Japanese channels, mirroring doesn’t work for me.

The hotel employed self check in n check out, but there no staff to guide us that it is a self check in, when we approach the staff, staff looks annoyed that we did not know it’s a self check in. We ask for scissors, staff told us that it can only be used at the front desk. We ask for weighing machine, they do not understand, when I finally use the translator app to translate what I meant at the front desk, they told me that it is on loan to another customer in the room.

Location is a short walk away but can be confusing as there are at least 2 other apa along the same street. As the facilities is small, they can only store luggage on the day before your check in and after...

I am very mixed on this hotel. The checkin process was all electronic and took a long time. The passport scanner didn't work well. The rooms were small but nicely furnished however too much stuff in the space made it cluttered and hard to find our things. There was a big screen display on the wall but it was in Japanese when it could have been in English. They gave us an English receipt! They knew we spoke English. The bed was bad. One side had almost no support to it. But then the onsen was free as was the pool. The staff tried hard to help and we could store our bags. There was hot water, bottled water and great air conditioning. Location was super. Very close to Hakata station.

There are 3 APA hotels on the same street - West, Central & Hakata-Ekihigashi. Make sure you know exactly which one you book. 😉 Pros: within 5min walk to Hakata station, easy to navigate around, motsunabe for breakfast, large public bath (can occupy upto 10 people at a time for female bath), clean room & eco-friendly hotel. Self check in but the staffs will help you if there should be difficulty which I find it's absolutely alright. Cons: I can't think of any at the moment. Just my 2 cents: room size just nice for a solo traveler, probably you should get a bigger room if you are traveling with more than yourself.
