We went to this store yesterday randomly after seeing it on the street, and we decided to order some takeaway pizza for later as we had prior dinner plans. The staff were really nice and we had organised to pick the pizza up at 9pm since that was when they did last call for pizza and it would be fresh and hot.
At 8:40ish (we were a bit early), we headed to the shop thinking that we could just have a drink while we waited for the pizza to be ready.. To our surprise when we arrived the kitchen was already substantially packed up and our pizzas had already been ready.
We thought positively that maybe they had just been made (but they weren’t expecting us for another 20 minutes)… so even in that case it would have been out in the cold for that time.
We took the pizza to our hotel (literally a 3 min walk away) and when we went to ate the pizza we were shocked at the quality for the price.
The pizza was raw and hadn’t been sliced properly. And the toppings were a bit greasy and salty.
I think this place is marketed as being worth the cost because the man who runs it studied in Italy, but as someone who’s been to Italy multiple times and lived in the Italian quarters in Melbourne this pizza is such low quality especially given the high price tag.
In Melbourne, a much more expensive city, a pizza like this from for much, much higher quality would cost much less.. and the chefs are also Italian or have trained in Italy also.
I am so disappointed at the quality of this pizza, and I don’t think that in any country / city in the world this pizza shop could thrive like it does in Gifu.
I hope in the future they can adjust prices to be more realistic about the pizza quality, or study pizza making further.
Thank you to the staff for the nice service, they were...
Read moreUnfortunately this place where we were super looking forward it before becoming the worst experience during two months in Japan. My partner and I ordered a pizza and a pasta. His pizza came first, at the beginning he was waiting for my pasta to come so we can start together. After some times I told him he should start first, if not the pizza is getting cold. So he tried to eat super slow the whole time still wanting to enjoy the food together. At the end he finished, we waited for almost an hour, we saw the customers who came after us already have their food. We realized they forgot my pasta. It’s quite surprising the two waiters walked pass us all the time since we are in front of the kitchen. And we are the only foreigners in the shop…. They watched us seating there waiting and didn’t bother to check the meal. And since we have plans after, I told them it’s okay, they can cancel it. They didn’t apologize for forgetting the meal, fine~ but here is the worst part, one of the waitresses, an old lady outside, the most impolite waiter we have in Japan. Doesn’t even bother to say thank you when we paid. The way she returned my card was unbelievable. Please, you forgot our meal, ruined our dinner plan, wasted our time and this attitude because...
Read moreI found this restaurant very close to my hotel. It's also only a few mins walk from the metro/train stations. The menu has many options to choose from, but if you don't speak/read japanese you'll need to pull out your translation app. The staff are very welcoming and smiling. I believe the chef has trained in Italy. The Diavolo pizza I ordered was delicious - as expected from a typical italian pizzeria. They even offered a lovely chilli infused oil as I mentioned I liked spicy food. 😋 Would recommend if you are...
