Last summer when I was in Hakodate I decided I could use a few drinks. It was a weekday and it was around 9pm, my options were limited. I stumbled upon this bar on Google and made my way there. I walked inside exhausted from my travels to find that it was a very classy establishment. I was wearing casual American summer clothing and a fanny-pack (don't judge). The bartender welcomed me inside gave me some fancy Japanese snack mix and began making my first drink. As silly as this may sound, watching the bar tender make drinks was like watching Van Gogh paint a picture. Each cocktail took a few minutes and it was beautiful to watch him create. As the night went on I asked him to just make me drinks he enjoyed making, they were all perfect. I wanted to film him but he was so kind and respectful that I couldn't bring myself to make such a request. It's a bit of a shame that I didn't film because I have looked online and I can't find video of anyone on this mans level. This bar was one of the top experiences I had during a one month trip to Japan. I will never forget this place and I will return someday. ありがとう...
Read moreAn excellent small, cozy whisky/cocktail bar. The owners provided a great bar experience, with old-school elegance reminiscent of Mad Men or Agata Christie. Best whisky on the rocks: a single large ice rock carved by the barman to fit the tumbler perfectly, then a shot of your favourite single malt poured over it to slowly cool and release the flavour without watering the drink. The selection is not extensive, but well-chosen with Scottish and Japanese malts, as well as American whiskeys and bourbon. Of course you can get your other favourite cocktail there, done with a true dedication to perfection. English is limited, so you will not chat with the bartender. Instead you can have an intimate conversation with your companion or just...
Read moreCan’t praise this place enough. The atmosphere is wonderful, the menu is expertly curated. While there I tried the monthly special kiwi daiquiri, house made lemonade, and the Darjeeling cooler. The daiquiri used fresh kiwi and was very refreshing. The Darjeeling was unique and easy to drink. Lemonade was a good nonalcohol option
For food, we tried the cheese plate and Jamon Serrano place. Highly recommend the Jamon, it was served with these amazing onion pickles and eating them together was a perfect pairing. Cheese plate was okay, I wished the cheese featured more...
