We had a lovely dinner last night at hummingbird. My wife was impressed with the hospitality the husband and wife had shown us. We were greeted by the wife who is friendly and smiley. Then the husband who is the chef came out to say hi to us. We ordered a cold sake for $12 AUD and a 600mls beer for $6 AUD. For entree we had spicey prawns and chorizo. It was tasty! For mains we ordered gingered pork (has full of flavors) and chicken with cream and white wine. Dessert was apple cake with ice cream and banana cake. Everything was good and tastes home cook meal! This place is highly recommended when you’re near Happo-one. Must book in advance due to limited tables (seats only for about 14 people) available and bring cash. Husband and wife walked us out when we left the restaurant. We’ll definitely come...
Read moreA cozy and cute Mom & Pop styled restaurant. After being closed 2 1/2 years due to pandemic rules.. Hummingbird reopened in December 24 2022 .

Portions were quiet large so recommend to pick out a few dishes and share. We ordered Edamame, green salad, Japanese styled sautéed chicken, and fried noodles, hot chocolate banana cake and everything was just amazing.
The owners are also very personable and came to chat for a bit and walked us out the door when we were ready to go.
A few things to note…
do make reservations, busy season you should call ahead 2-3 days before cash only sit back and relax
Definitely recommend if you are in...

Unsurprisingly, it's very difficult to get in, otherwise we'd have come back to explore the rest of the menu. The drinks list is short, but we had some delicious cold sake. We had a long chat with the chef after our meal, and he and his wife came outside to say goodbye as we left. Overall a lovely experience, and typical of the friendly courtesy that makes Japan such a...
