This place has large rooms and is walking distance to the kokasai ski lifts which is one down from Sakka ski lifts . It is next door to the beach bar and opposites the Tokyo hotel which is where all the shuttles stop ||The rooms are spacious and he cabins have their own drying room , we stayed in a cabin as well as an apartment , I prefer the cabins as they have toasters and a light in the bedrooms as well as a drying room , the cabins also have beds where as the apartments have futon mattresses on the floor and not many appliances in the kitchen ||The staff are very helpful with driving you around to different areas when they are not busy, they will always try to help you ||I would make a suggestion to change the towels every 3 days as there is no where to wash anything and having the same|Towels for 7 days wasn’t that great , also to out a toaster in the apartments as making toast in a grilled with no tongs was very awkward.||A|Few extra things like a bread knife and extra towels and pillows would be helpful ||Apart|From these minor things , we could not fault the place or the service and helpfulness of all staff ||There is no restaurant on site , so make sure you stock up because of the weather turns harsh you have to go outside to find somewhere to eat and if the staff are not able to drive you somewhere then you have no option but to brave the elements , at nice when it is -14 with snow and wind it can be difficult with 2 kids to eat out every night .||They offer discounted ski lift passes which are a lot cheaper than buying them at the ski lift at the park as well ||The rooms are very clean and very warm, there is plenty of heating and Sema and noddy work hard to keep the snow cleared from walking areas getting to your rooms .||If you are travelling with kids , bring a laptop and movies as there is not one TV channel in English , also take advantage of the fridge and freezer and go shopping for drinks , treats and snacks as well as breakfast items at the supermarket so your not having to go and find a cafe to have a coffee or toast every morning .||Overall a very good place to stay in a very good location with lots of different dining options not too far away...
Read moreIt’s difficult to write reviews about this place, they do have some nice photos on their promotion pages. The room size is decent. However I’d only recommend to people who speak decent level of Japanese at least and are able to drive around the region and very self sufficient, they wouldn’t even know how to recommend a local restaurant to you.
We stayed in a lodge for 4 nights. 4 beds 4 people, there’s one bathroom, the kitchen is big enough but not so clean. Oven and microwave are very small, old and dirty, really can’t do anything with them, not even heat up milk... No coffee maker. Sema and Nori tried to be nice but communication can be challenging and it always ended up with misunderstanding. If you come in the winter, the room temperature is not consistent, either too cold or too warm. The shower is the same as room temperature.
So generally I didn’t have a good experience with this stay although they’re trying to be nice but perhaps during busy season they’re not patient enough and don’t have the kind of capacity to run this place, it’s very disorganized in my opinion as opposed to the Japanese standard.
Last but not least, they charge about 300+ US $ for this room so it’s not like a cheap option.
the two stars I’m giving is for the relatively bigger space in Japanese standard and the staff tried to be nice however they probably do need to improve their...
Read moreWe just had a 6-day stay at the Canadian Lodge with young kids. We were lucky to have a wonderful white Christmas. The lodge was great for our purposes - simple cabins from Canada (hence the namesake). The lodges weren’t big, but they were well insulated and well organized - a kitchen / dining area that sat five of us comfortably, three raised largish bunk beds / sleeping areas our kids enjoyed, and then a living room / kotatsu area where we could sit cozily in the warmth and eat snacks. So simple accommodations but very comfortable. And nice beautiful windows meant a lot of light. Finally truly above and beyond service from the hosts (Sema and his team). They took us to nearby ski areas in the morning and picked us up afterwards, and drove us to local onsens in the evening. When they couldn’t take us somewhere, they would call a taxi for us. They were our local resource for our many other enquiries as well. They also cleaned the snow off our car without us asking and gave us some very useful driving advice regarding slippery and icy roads. Really great stay and would recommend - very clean, comfortable, warm...
