Wagyu Kobeya — Restaurant in Hakuba

Be careful with their cancellation policy which is a way too aggressive. We booked a table for 8pax much in advance. While we had a screenshot of reservation ID in the end of booking process, I did not receive any booking confirmation (not by email, neither by sms) and suddenly overlooked the date; we came next day by mistake. The restaurant was unable to accommodate us (this very well understood - 8pax). !!!BUT!!! Day after I have received a charge to my card of 5000 jpy per person as cancellation fee. For a such a group size and the service never received, this unacceptably too much. The restaurant had all my contact details, but starting from missing to send a reservation confirmation, they didn’t call a day before to confirm reservation and they did not call in the day when we didn’t arrive (we were staying in 5 minutes walking distance). Having also a statement “ If you do not come to the store without contacting us within 15 minutes of your reservation time, your reservation will be cancelled. In that case, A cancellation fee will be charged”, the policy and overall approach to customers...

The best meal I had in Hakuba so far, I would love to rank them 6 out of 5 if possible. We walked 30 mins from our hotel just to try this meal, totally worth the walk. Not only the wagyu are amazing, but the services are out of our expectations. The waitress Ellen is cool and gave us lots of tips in how to make the most of our snowboard trip. I believe the Kobe would taste even better, we ordered sukiyaki and the grilled black wagyu sirloin, but tasted heavenly good and melted in mouth. I would love to revisit here again, not only the foods but also the people here are nice and friendly, thanks for the free drop off...
