I WAS ASKED TO "LEAVE THE RESTAURANT" AND GOT HUMILIATED BY THE STAFF IN FRONT OF ALL THE CUSTOMERS. (this review requires 1-2 minute reading time): This is my first time in Hakuba and I had been very excited about my trip for long. Today my girlfriend was craving for Ramen as it was a bit cold and windy, so we came to this restaurant hoping to have a bowl of hot and nice noodles. We were both very hungry and feeling a bit sick upon arrival at the restaurant because of the weather, so I admit that I was a bit moody when I couldn't get the staff to order for us after calling him for 4 times, so I used my body language to let him know that we were getting impatient as we had been waiting for too long. I did this just to let him know that we were a bit unhappy about the service, especially after waiting for 20 minutes outside in the wind for our table. I didn't say a word or let anyone else notice my expressions (as we were sitting in the corner) because all I wanted was to get our order asap, instead of annoying or humiliating him. HOWEVER, the staff walked to us while saying loudly: "PLEASE LEAVE MY RESTAURANT IF YOU DON'T WANT TO EAT HERE." attracting all the attention from other customers. I was so confused and shocked by him, so I said "We don't want to leave because we do want to have noodles and I just wanted to order food, I didn't mean anything else." And he kept saying "PLEASE GO OUT" for SEVERAL TIMES and emphasised "THIS IS HOW WE DO BUSINESS". and "I DIDN'T TAKE YOUR ORDER BECAUSE OTHERS WERE WAITING TOO." But honestly, he was taking his time cleaning and organizing other tables instead, while we were the last customers they let go in for lunch hours. After telling him we are not leaving, he walked away again, and let us wait for another 10 minutes. During these 10 minutes, he was absolutely not serving other tables. This was literally my first time in life to be asked to leave a restaurant by a staff over his own mistake, I still feel confused and shocked, and sad. The food was good, especially the spicy miso noodles, loved the spiciness. But the guy who asked us to leave stopped serving us after the incident so I couldn't have the chance to apologize to him and ask him for apologies too. I understand that you were busy at the moment, but it is not an excuse to let your customers wait for overly long and HUMILIATE THEM. This is NOT how you are supposed to do your business. Oh, literally just realized, WE ORDERED 2 RAMENS AND 1 GYOZA, BUT YOU DIDN'T GIVE US GYOZA!!!!!!!!...

A few seasons ago, this was one of my go to spots for ramen in Hakuba, sadly not anymore. It has unfortunately become an expensive tourist trap.

They have increased their prices more than I’ve seen anywhere else in the past 3 seasons, it’s the most expensive in town, but it’s Hakuba, whatever.

They had 6 staff members working, that were idle most of the time as they just have too many staff on. Despite having plenty of staff on, there was zero table service provided. We had to order our meals on a QR and when we asked for two waters we were told to grab it ourselves, while two waitresses stood there and watched us.

Watching our meals being prepared we noticed the curry sauce was served from a microwave packet. We also notice the gyoza were straight from a large ziplock bag. I’m fairly sure everything was from packets, as the ramen tasted like something you could buy from BIG or the Lawson. Almost as many bean sprouts as there was noodles.

Overall extremely disappointing paying top dollar for shit service...

So good! Worth the wait in the cold Hakuba weather!

My family is not fond of waiting at restaurants, but since other restaurants were packed and we wanted ramen anyways, we decided to wait for 40 minutes in the cold for a seat at Marutama Ramen & Bar.

Customers exiting the resto would reassure us and others waiting that it was worth it and they were right!!

The gyoza was one of the best I've had ever, it was juicy, flavorful, and so satisfying. I had the spicy miso ramen and it was indeed very spicy but I finished all the soup anyway. My mom and brother had the Hakuba Mountain Ramen- the serving was very generous and the broth was flavorful.

The staff members were very friendly here too. This ramen spot is hands down the best resto we...

It was amazing! I took a vegetarian creamy ramen. The best vegetarian ramen in my life. It is cooked in veggie broth. Just go crazy with the richness of the taste. I couldn't get up from the table until I finished everything, although the portion was impressive! My friends who took miso ramen and Hakuba ramen were also completely delighted. However, it should be noted that it is much more difficult to find a really delicious vegetarian ramen than a classic one. In any case, anyone who visits Hakuba should definitely visit this place and enjoy the taste and portion size. Highly recommended.

Worth the wait! We waited in line as we were craving a hot bowl of Ramen after a long day of skiing and it did not disappoint. The Mazesoba bowl is still one of my top dishes on our 2 week Japan trip! I have been able to find anything to close it and need to visit again. We also had the Spicy Ramen which was super hot if you enjoy that style which had mind blowing flavours. Overall the atmosphere is a perfect setting for a day off the mountain and gives you an authentic Ramen bar feel! Highly recommend!
