Best set meal in Miyajima & worth every penny ☘️ (not the service maybe) It was around 5 pm, we made it to this place. It's a bit difficult to find, or you might get lost like us in Omote sando shopping area full of fried and junk foods😂 We were seriously looking for a Teshoku place: set meal, warm rice, sit, rest and enjoying drinks. Thankfully made here, and ordered the Miyajima specialty set meal: it had eel rice with wasabi & egg, fried oyster, veggies, red miso soup & pickles. Later, we added the beef tendon( Gyu tsuji) and ale for drinks.
Miyajima specialty set meal: 8/10 The eel used in this is quite different and cooked differently than futsu Unagi don and the egg, nori, wasabi was the perfect blend. Beef tendon : 9/10 In Japan, this is the best Gyu tsuji I have had till now. Not salty, not over cooked but filled with Umami. It melts in your mouth and it has significant amount of lean meat. The shop is run by a single person, he doesn’t talk much, and initially we felt he doesn’t really care. The owner and chef doesn’t greet or talk much politely. Once we finished the food, my partner went to the counter and asked for the bill(we speak perfectly in japanese) , the chef asked him to wait in our seat. We waited for another 5 minutes until he finished serving the other 2 customers. I wonder, if it's because we are foreigners and I have a dark skin?! Anw, overall the food was really great...
Read moreWe didn’t get to eat here, first of all, the host was late to open the place by 5 minutes (not Japanese attitude), furthermore he went with trash bin in front of us and said something wait like 30 seconds and closed the gate which implied the place is still closed or he doesn’t want customers. I’m a tour guide in Japan and it was the first time in Miyajima from more than 10 times on the island I was treated like this. I wish the owner to take a break and provide decent Japanese service again or close the place. There are many other oyster restaurants available, thus I recommend...
Read moreA lovely little restaurant away from the main tourist road. We loved its modern design and wooden furniture, making the atmosphere extra warm and cozy! The staff is young, discreet but also polite and professional. We had the best fried oysters, grilled eel and highball of our whole Japanese trip, and the portions were just perfect! It may be slightly more costly than the other restaurants on Miyajima, right. Still, Enishi is worth every penny considering it is a non-turisty restaurant in a very turisty island, providing a fine dining experience. Would...
