Came in tonight to try the tomato cream pasta…although I arrived around 7:40pm, there were only two staff (the boss and his assistant) cooking and doing other things. Ordering took some time and felt that the younger man could have been friendlier.
The pasta had a brine taste reminiscent of crab - not sure whether it was mixed with salted water or crab/clams to get that salty taste. It was tasty but a tad bit salty for me; however, I managed to finish the pasta though I left some sauce on the plate.
I was the only diner who ordered dessert - strawberry basque cheesecake - and regretted it when I heard the younger guy cough while preparing the dish. In previous pictures, the cake came with a piece of strawberry and whipped cream but mine just came with whipped cream.
The cheesecake tasted like it was mixed with cream and condensed milk; it got too rich and heavy after a while.
While the head chef was polite, felt like the service could be better. Wanted to try the steak and frites for my next dinner on the island but after tonight’s experience, it would be better to be at a place where you wouldn’t feel like an...
Read moreI was quite delighted to find this restaurant tucked away in side street away from the main shopping street. The main focus is on Western style cuisine and they do it well. I ordered their pasta set which came with a salad, soup, pasta, dessert, and a drink for a very reasonable price.
The salad was a mix of fresh & crunchy greens topped with a refreshing miso dressing. The soup was an AMAZING cold corn cream soup, so good I had to get another one to go so I could drink it while walking on a scorching hot day. Pasta, a perfectly al dente bolognese done Japanese style that I would order again if I was in the area. And dessert was a creamy vanilla ice cream made with real vanilla, as evidenced by the black vanilla specks.
Service was impeccable as is at almost any Japanese restaurant.
They had an English menu so that was a big plus. They also have a great selection of local craft beers; I had a very delicious Hiroshima weizen.
Highly recommended for anyone visiting Miyajima island to stop by for a meal any...
Read moreOne of the few places on Miyajima open for dinner, this restaurant is a fantastic spot to enjoy a full vegan meal. Originally opened as a sandwich shop, it has since expanded its menu, gaining a reputation as a go-to Italian restaurant. With very few places serving food after 5 PM, even locals are thrilled to have this option.
The menu offers a wide selection of à la carte dishes, including appetizers, pasta, mains, and desserts—and there’s a vegan option for each course! The vegan gratin and tomato bean soup are especially recommended.
They also have sandwiches available for takeout, with at least one vegetarian option—be sure to check with the staff for details.
To top it all off, their drink selection is excellent, featuring Japanese wines, local craft beers, and more. If you’re looking for a great dinner spot on Miyajima, this place is definitely worth...
