Sushiro - Hikone Tomachi — Restaurant in Hikone

Now I’m not really a fan of conveyor belt sushi but the sushi at Sushiro’s ain’t half bad. You won’t find top grade high quality ingredients here (typical for all conveyor belt sushi places) but for the price you pay, it’s pretty darn good.

The quality is definitely better than most convey belt sushi places I tried in the past. It’s also the first time I’ve ever seen the conveyor belt so empty (people kept taking stuff off the conveyor), which is probably a good sign. They have a good selection of items which you can choose from.

But I was amazed in how well they utilise technology to improve their ordering system. How it works is that you’d be assigned a seat number, and each seat number is assigned a plate colour (this is to help you identify your order later on). You can pick anything off the belt, but for items which are not on the belt, you can order it using the iPad given. Once an order has been made the staff in the kitchen will prepare the item and use the coloured plate assigned for your table, then they will place it on the belt on a special stand which is used to identify a special ordered item (this is to inform other customers not to take this plate by mistake).when your ordered item is about to reach you, the iPad will alert you that your ordered item is arriving on the belt so that you can take...

How small is the sushi going to get on the next few years? I could count the fish eggs on a passing dish with one hand. The most minute slivers of thin cuts on tiny pinches of rice. Sushiro is the most popular but I can't understand why when it's rivals have far more generous portions in everything. Even my high ball was inches from being full....

Their ordering system is seriously messed up.

What the screen shows as being delivered and the actual item that got delivered doesn’t match. This happened twice.

To make matters worse, they bundle your order together with others’ so it can be very confusing.
