Mio Bar — Restaurant in Hiroshima

Us Belgians were looking for a European style spot for dinner, and we came across Mio Bar. Just by the looks of it, it resembles an Italian authentic bar. It has a beautiful long, wooden bar, shelves full of coffee beans and alcohol, an Italian espresso machine, and even a meat slicer. The walls could use some more decorations, though, as they feel a bit empty.

The staff was so welcoming and friendly to us. We used Google to translate the menu, which was easy enough. We had the lasagna and the pasta al forno. Although the portions were pretty small, the taste of the bolognese meat sauce was on-point. We did not have any prosciutto, but the table next to us did, and it looked delicious. It is sliced to order with a very delicate hand by the staff.

We also had a cappuccino and hot chocolate, as well as a tiramisu for dessert. Again, the portion of the tiramisu was on the smaller side, but taste wise, it was authentic. The cherry on top is that the staff has mastered the art of making drawings in the coffee foam. We got an adorable bunny in ours!

The prices of everything on the menu, including drinks, food, and dessert, are overall very fair. If they had more pasta dishes on the menu, I would come back...

東京から両親が遊びにきたので、広島で評判がいい店を、ということで1ヶ月以上前から予約して訪問しました。 とても楽しみにしていました故、とても残念でした。 理由は「提供が遅すぎる」からです。

店内に入って、席についてから水とメニューが出てくるまで10分以上かかりました。 3月でしたがとても暖かい日で、朝早く東京から新幹線で移動してきた両親は疲れていてお腹も空いていたはず。 メニューください、と言ってからも、私たちより後から入店した常連さんとカウンターでおしゃべりをしています。ちょっと信じられませんでした。

後に予定はないですが、早く提供をして頂きたかったので、少し急いでいる旨を伝えました。 そうすると、何時にお店を出ればいいか？それに合わせて準備します、と。 リミットはないが、少し急いで欲しいと伝えましたが、パンサラダが出てくるのも、パスタが出てくるのも全てタイミングが遅すぎました。 本当に残念です。

最後、「コーヒーだけは最高のタイミングでお出ししましょう」と自信満々におっしゃったものの、やはり遅い…

12時にお店に入って、結局お店を出たのは14時です。 ランチに2時間は普通といえばそうかもしれないですが、 急いでいる旨を伝えた上での2時間です。 最後デザートも食べたかったですが、また30分待たされるだろうと思い、諦めました。

評判を見ると、スタッフの方の対応が素晴らしい、人柄がいい、ばかり出てきます。

たしかに気さくで人当たりの言い方ですが、「丁寧に接客をする」ことに重きを置きすぎて、お客が不愉快になる程対応が遅くなるのであれば、本末転倒ではないでしょうか？ コロナでスタッフが足りないのかもしれません。それならば「丁寧な接客」を少しライトにする必要があるのではないでしょうか？ 「丁寧な接客」がどうしても捨てられないのであれば、スタッフを増やすべきです。

「迅速、タイムリーな提供」も大事なおもてなしだと思います。 一度考え直していただきたいです。
