We stayed as a family of 4 in 2 separate rooms. It is a fairly compact hotel, and for the most part rather clean. The location near the heart of downtown makes it easily walkable for many of the most important Hiroshima sites, as well as being close to the nightlife and restaurant scene.||Although mostly clean, for some reason there seemed to be a lot of stains on the floor in the hallways. It was something I could not help but notice, and wonder about. ||My wife (who formerly worked at hotel) pointed out that many of the staff seemed to be part timers, and not properly trained hotel workers. So the level of service left something to be desired - for instance, the woman at the desk should have given us 2 room keys per person in the room. She only gave us one, and we later had to request another. This hotel seems to be a sort of bare bones operation - a place to stay at night, but not the main event of your visit. ||The card keys are important because you cannot ride the elevator without one. You must scan the card once in the elevator to get to your floor - do not expect to pop out to the convenience store while your partner waits in the room for your knock! (We found this out the hard way.) To be honest, more hotels are adopting this system, probably a result of the pandemic and the need to keep people on separate floors from mingling (scanning your key only allows you access to the floor your room is on). You also need your card to get into the lobby after hours. ||The bread offered for breakfast was free, but consisted of 3 small pieces of bakery and coffee. If you are in the mood for more, plan a visit to the nearby 7-Eleven or Mr. Donut. There is also a grocery store within walking distance, in the same building as the car park. ||There is overnight parking a few blocks away - inquire at the desk, and you will get a discount rate. Parking near the hotel to unload your bags is a bit problematic. The hotel is right on a tram line, very close to the shopping and restaurant districts, so you will be rather close to the heart of the city. ||The beds are rather small - most will not hold more than one person comfortably. Luckily, the rates are not so high that getting 2 rooms for a family of 4...
Read moreThe hotel is very small, but tall. The guest floors have just 8 rooms--4 clustered on each side of the elevator bank. The walls and carpets are dark, with minimal lighting. It's a bit dour feel, really. Due to the way I booked my rooms I had 2 different rooms during my stay. Both were incredibly small--one even smaller than some rooms I've had in Tokyo. There was nowhere to set my suitcase, not even a foldable rack, except on the bed. Despite the size and decor, between the bed and the blackout curtains I had a great sleep. ||A breakfast is included with the stay, but it was nothing more than a grab-and-go bag in the lobby. There are only 10 seats in the lobby or so, thus not really a place to sit and eat if it's crowded. Each bag had a single slice of bread, a small bagel, and one muffin. They also had coffee and tea, although the room had a better coffee machine. It was a bit weird and quirky, but I guess that is the vibe the hotel wants to project.||Serivce was definitely a downside. The guy who checked me in seemed clearly annoyed that I was there, almost like I was interrupting some other business he had. They also got upset that I made the reservation for 2 and only I showed up after my friend had to cancel. Why? I was still paying full price for the room.||Although the sleep was great, for all the other hassles and annoyances of the hotel, I wouldn't...
Read moreWhat we liked most about it was the location and that the room was clean. It was indeed very small, even smaller than the usual japanese rooms. It was not the end of the world for us, but that’s definitely something to consider if traveling with larger luggage(s). In regards to service they don’t quite respond to one’s needs as the staff barely talks or understands english. If you use a DND door sign they will anyway leave at your door a big bag with new towels&slippers. When we used the “please make up room” sign they did not do it but instead they left the same bag in front of the door. As we mainly used that sign so that they take the old towels and garbage, we kindly asked at the reception later that day if they can still do it. Polite as they are they nodded their heads, some hours later in the room we still had the old towels lying on the floor and they only emptied one of the garbage cans. I don’t want to make such a big drama out of this, but when you have a super small room for several days, it does make a difference if you have some garbage and towels taken out of your way. Oh and don’t get too excited about the “free breakfast”, it’s rather half an...
