Cafe Taniwha is the best place to go in Ishigaki if you want to interact with the locals. It is owned by the vibrant couple Kurihara san and Fusa san, who moved to Ishigaki from Tokyo 40 years ago. They have the interesting life story and are the most open-minded people that I have ever met . You will be amazed by how vibrant this place becomes at night, with people studying Spanish, practicing Ukulele, or simply chatting with each other. Some times they also hold live music events, don't miss out!
Recommended menu: Go-ya juice (freshly made bitter melon juice), Go-ya juice mixed with Awamori , Mojito (with fresh mints), coffee set (cake and coffee for only 600 yen) and the vegetarian curry rice.
