Slightly pricey but the great view is worth it! It might be packed on weekends but weekdays are great. They only have vegetarian food, which is quite rare to find in Japan, but then again this restaurant is situated in a Buddhist temple! Right now they have hydrangea-inspired drinks. The blue is a sour drink reminiscent of lemonade and the purple apparently has a sweeter, more floral taste according to the waitress. It costs 600 yen but it was nice to get out of the...

I really didn't expect this place to be so divisive. Understand that this restaurant is run by the Buddhist temple, and the staff is mostly Buddhist monks in training. You will experience a more restrained form of customer service than in private-owned restaurants. The food is simple, healthy, vegetarian and delicious. All the ingredients are very fresh, I had the pasta but the curry was a bit better...
