If you’re in the Enoshima area, definitely check this place out. An English menu is available but note that it is severely limited compared to what all is available, I’d recommend going with someone who can speak Japanese.
Shirasu, whitebait, are basically young sardines and are very versatile when it comes to cuisine. I got the Shirasu Zukuri Teishoku (しらすづくりていしょく) and it comes with them prepared 5 different ways, rice, and a small assortment of veggies, also included a bit of watermelon but not sure if that’s a seasonal addition or not. Really good overall; the shirasu is light and there’s no fishy flavor like you might be expecting. I was afraid it wouldn’t be filling, but with free refills of rice, it actually held me over for the rest of the day and I didn’t need dinner.
Around lunchtime it can get quite busy, so be prepared to wait or come early. Thankfully, before your table is called up to sit, they take your order so almost immediately after being seated, your food comes out.
