Chaya&Bar Gauche — Restaurant in Kanazawa

This is a great cafe right in the middle of the of the Higashi Chaya District. It’s dark and cozy, with a cool vibe. It’s a cafe shop during the day and turns into a bar at night. There’s a cool counter with a big window where you can watch the staff/owner make drinks, there’s a table, and there’s some tatami seating (one spot on the floor and two spots where your legs can fit under the table). Quaint & cozy coffee shop / bar in the middle of the old houses in Kanazawa. The place is decorated with Japanese vintage items and a huge collection of liquor. It’s a nice spot to rest and warm yourself after a long walk along the streets of Higashichaya.

We ordered cafe au lait, ice cream + shot of Nochello & another with Kahlua. Most of the offerings are in their Japanese menu so be sure to read up / use google translate before ordering. A great cozy/calm cocktail bar after 7:00pm.

Came here to try the cocktails and had: Cynar Spritz Calvados highball Mona Lisa (Amaretto & orange cocktail) Bohemian Dream (Sweeter fruity cocktail)

The drinks were well-made and delicious. There was little emphasis on garnish but the taste and quality were high. We especially liked the Cynar cocktail. Menus are in Japanese but the host is very accommodating to foreign guests.
