SUMMARY I had the traditional green tea red bean dessert (¥950). If you like traditional Chinese/Asian desserts you will love this choice like I did. Tip: pour the green tea onto the red bean and chestnut concoction. The ambience of this place is really cozy. On the outside you instantly notice the occer coloured house and the inside reminds me of English countryside look with exposed beams (check out the video). There is music playing however it is not loud and conversations can be had at a normal level. Not recommended to take online meetings here though.

Staff was very polite and spoke English well. Food was delivered quickly. Thumbs up !

The only downside to this place is that they do not accept VISA or Mastercard so remember to bring your stash of cash :) WHAT I ORDERED 5/5 AMBIENCE 4/5 STAFF...

The only real tea room in the Higashichaya that doesn't play the exclusivity of the area card, i.e. welcoming, friendly service and a fair price. Nice view on the districy street from the 2F, good matcha and wagashi (small sweets that are eaten with matcha). They also have a few other things on the menu, but you need to try matcha and wagashi at least once while in the district. Bilingual menu and free...

It’s a good cafe to take a break from sightseeing in Higashi Chayagai. Good dessert and matcha. Didn’t try their coffee but smelled really great. If you get to pstairs it has a high ceiling and you can overlook the main street.
