Kingyoan — Restaurant in Kanazawa

As we strolled around and walked through various alley pathways, we encountered this little gem.

A very small coffee shop with gold fish wind chime at its door. We pulled open the aged door and first thing we noticed was old 1900 music playing though the speakers (intentionally with a bit static like vinyl records). As our eyes adjusted to the light, the interior became clear. Interior seemed even smaller than imagined. Entire space is made of dark colour wood that created an antic feel. Counter was filled with old fashioned cashier and lamp (with a debit machine of course). Basically can only fit one table of 4 for its width.

We were greeted by the waitress, which weirdly gave me a goth-like feel (dark Mosquera with black maid dress - though the other waitress dressed in more traditional attire). Because the main floor was full, we were asked if the second floor was okay with us. As I brought my 70 year old parents with me, I was hesitant and very reluctantly said yes. (Please be aware if you are of the elderly or bad knee). The stair way up was very steep and extremely narrow. Even for me, it was not easy climb as the step board is very shallow.

We reach upstairs which emulated the same 1920 mood. Fake old fashion speakers playing old songs. Coloured glass lamps. And a bit worn chairs. We loved every bit of it. (Air conditioning was quite cold though, so if you were sweating while walking around outside, be careful). We ordered siphoned coffee, just black the way we like it.

大正時代の趣が味わえる古民家カフェ！オープンしたのは2023年？だと思います！（大正111年とあるので）　SNS投稿でミニシベリアプレゼントは、2024.11現在やっておりませんでした。 カフェスペースは1階で3テーブルあります。それぞれのテーブルにアンティークなライトがあります！古い家屋で、アンティークのインテリアが楽しめます。蓄音機で音楽を流しており、邦楽洋楽歌有り無し問わず大正時代らしい音楽が流れていました。1階には食事スペースではない写真スポットとして振り子時計とソファのスペースがあり、奥にはお手洗いがあります。お手洗いは男女兼用です。ステンドグラスの窓やタイルの手洗い場、大きい鏡、竹久夢二のポストカードなど、乙女心くすぐるスペースになってます！ ホットコーヒーとシベリアをいただきました。 有田焼のレトロかわいいカップソーサーと、スプーンにときめきました！シベリアは風立ちぬで知ったのですが食べたことなかったので、念願叶って嬉しかったです。思ったよりボリュームがあります。九谷焼のお皿でした！カステラ生地も羊羹部分もきめ細かく、カステラはしっとりふわふわ、羊羹はぎっしりという感じです！結構お腹にたまり...

お店の雰囲気、子供がうるさかった場合退席してもらう場合があるとのことだったので静かに過ごせるかなと思い行きましたが、ものすごくうるさい子供がいても何も店員は言っておらず、がっかりしました。

外で５分前になりオープン待ち始めた時も、外で騒いでいたので周りの住居の迷惑だと思ったほか、階段は急斜で、明らかに子供向けではないと思います。備品など壊すリスクもかなり高いのでは？とヒヤヒヤしました。なんでこんなところに静かにさせられない子供を連れてこようと思うのだろう。

映えのみで、価格も味が伴っていません。 金魚鉢ソーダなんて原価いくらでしょう？ もっとおいしければ良かったですが、単に金魚の形をしたゼリーが２個入っているだけの、ただのソーダです。あと申し訳程度の小石のチョコ。

店員の対応も非常に微妙でした。 先頭で、２階が空いているにもかかわらず１階を案内されたので、２階希望を伝えて２階に移動。 注文する際も、「迷っているので話聞きながら注文したい。」と伝えたところ、「電子の呼び出し機器で呼んでください」と言われた。「いや、だから話聞きながら決めたいんですけど...
