Cresson River Side Story — Restaurant in Karuizawa

I had just a wonderful experience here. I have celiac and finding a place in Karuizawa was challenging. I ended up just walking in my first night and they were able to accommodate me. even made a gluten free matcha bread that was so fluffy for me as a treat. felt so well cared for. the entrance is beautiful, courtyard overlooking trees was magical, food is tasty, chef is lovely and came out to chat with us.

on top of all of that the three servers who served us over two nights were amazing. sweet, thoughtful and attentive. they remembered how exactly we each liked our water, which dishes we had gotten, that I had commented the first night that chopsticks would be great (they brought them without saying anything the second night). gluten free bread, a separate knife for the butter that me and my friend shared. all these little things ended up just making me feel so taken care of. it's definitely not cheap, but so loved the experience. especially with an entirely gluten free meal (didn't feel like I was missing out as all dishes - desserts and bread they had a gluten free version). also the ultimate test, I didn't have any stomach ache after. oh and they even offered to call us a cab when we arrived the second night because it...

My friend and I checked this place out while we were in Karuizawa in May . Both of us were very impressed by the presentation and quality of all the dishes. You can tell the chef put a lot of thought into creating these dishes. One of the dishes was done with more than 20 kinds of vegetables that are cooked in different ways to create different texture and flavors. We tried 2 set menus, (one is around 8800 jpy, the other is around 12000 jpy). My friend, who is normally not a big fan of vegetables said she also really enjoyed the meal. The servie was great. The waiters there speak English well and they have an English version of the set menu for us, which is a plus. The garden and the restaurant were both beautiful.
