Pizzeria Rocco — Restaurant in Kawagoe

Italian in Japan, is generally good. This place is DELICIOUS! If you like wood oven pizza and pasta, this is a must. It is a small shop with a few tables. (You can also take out the pizza) The chef singlehandedly creates the entire menu. The service is professional and friendly. The restaurant is clean. There are partitions for tables and alcohol to sanitize your hands at the table (because of COVID). And the prices are reasonable. (We double checked our bill to make sure they actually charged up for everything.) We ordered a prosciutto and Parmesan cheese salad; half and half pizza, margarita and porchetta with cheese sauce; sausage (which came with amazing potatoes); and porcini mushroom and roasted chestnut pasta. About a 10 minute walk from Kawagoe-ahi station, this restaurant serves oven baked pizza. Small portions but delicious.

My only critique is that they had very few options for vegans and vegetarians. I ordered a salad thinking that it wouldn’t have any meat, but instead it came with a pile of prosciutto on top.

I rarely give 5 stars to Italian restaurants here in Japan. In my 3 years living here, I’ve got to say this place is definitely one of the best Italian restaurants I’ve visited.

The pizzas are brick oven baked. Delicious.

Staff are really friendly and interior is cozy.

I definitely recommend eating here if you’re around the area.
