時の鐘の下をくぐった先には、小さくつつましい広場と薬師神社、それから出世稲荷神社がありました。

つい時の鐘にのみ目を奪われがちになりますが、こちらの境内の佇まいも、味わい深く感じました。

解説板によると、薬師神社は、以前は瑞光山医王常蓮寺（ずいこうざんいおういんじょうれんじ）と言う天台宗のお寺だったそうです。が、明治維新の際に政府の神仏分離政策によって廃寺となり、新たに薬師神社となった歴史があるそうです。

御本尊は薬師如来の立像で、五穀豊穣や病気平癒、眼病に後利益があるのだそうです。

薬師神社右手には、可愛らしい佇まいの（出世）稲荷神社も確認できます。稲荷神社の御利益は、出世、開運、合格などだそうです。
