BUMBU Kitchen — Restaurant in Kobe

Back then, i gave 5 stars for this restaurant. The taste is good. But today's experience made me change my mind. :(

I would say, if you're starving, think twice to eat in here. I have been visiting this restaurant several times. Even in the last visit, the waiting time is almost 1hour (from order to serving).

Today, the store should be open at 11.30. But the owner just came at 11.45am. I was 2nd on the line.. the 1st one was a group of 5 adults and 1 kid. Behind me were 3 adults. I came with my 2 kids.

I ordered 3 Mie Goreng, and 1 Sate Ayam (not spicy).

Then after waiting for almost 50mnt, i asked if they gonna serve the food because my son said he's hungry. Yes, please be patient they said. My son even fell asleep while waiting. Then, after waiting for 1.5hours, i asked again if they are making our order or not because my son was crying (he said he's hungry). I told the lady that my son is hungry.

The lady said the Sate Ayam is ready. She then took out the Sate Ayam with chili on top. Before she put the food on the table, I told her that my order is not spicy. She then took back the food and came back about 5mnt later. When i ate the Sate, it was spicy! Omg... so they just took the chili out. My daughter cant eat spicy, but she still ate it because she is hungry as well. Btw, the Sate wasnt warm.. no idea why... it should be warm or hot..

After 2hours of waiting, i ran out of patient. I stood up and go to the counter, where i also can see their kitchen. I saw the other owner were plating rice and stuff. Definitely not ours. Then i spoke to the lady if they havent made our food yet, then we will leave. The lady said sorry. So i paid 550 for the spicy cold Sate Ayam and left.

Yes, 2 hours waiting and we still didnt get our food..

This is a suggestion for the owner : you should not hold your customer by keep saying we're doing it, we're doing it. You never know how hungry your customer is. Specially kids. My son ate breakfast before leaving and after we found a restaurant nearby (not a fast food restaurant) he ate 2 portions of kids meal because he waited too long...

If there’s 0 rating, we would have given that rating. Absolute worse service. The waiter didn’t even know how to deal with customers properly. He kept going in and out asking someone inside.

Restaurant was full when we arrived at 9pm. Didn’t even offer us to wait. Told us off immediately that there was no way to wait. When asked about take out, he said it was ok only at 9.30pm. We waited to be served but he never came till 9.25pm after we spoke to him about take out.

He then told us “not possible for take out” and we even showed him the sign plastered on the window that says “take out ok” and he said it was ok earlier. After having a few min talk informing him that we had young kids, he then went in to talk to someone AGAIN and came back saying ok.

We ordered fried rice and after a min came back and told us no rice available. Oh my it was a horrible experience !!

A great little restaurant not so far from Sannomiya station. It's a small restaurant, so it might feel a little tight but it was worth the visit.

I ordered the coconut milk chicken curry which had a nice spice level to it without being overwhelming. The chicken was cooked well and the curry was delicious. I would definitely order it again.

The only negative thing I can say about the restaurant was that it took about 40 minutes to get our lunch food, however, a few people ordered just before us and there was only one person cooking so I can't downgrade them for that. Although if you are rushing to get a train then it might be wise to ask how long it will take to...
