Some of us decided to take a walk to check out this California-style burrito spot. The marketing and concept seemed like a spot we would find back at home.

Not sure if it was an off day, but the staff was very unhelpful. When we walked to the window to order, a woman came and just stood there, not even greeting us. We flipped through the menu to decide, and the staff just stood there, looking almost annoyed. We almost did not order but decided we should give it a try.

I don’t know why they go so far and claim to be authentic, it is not an auhentic So-Cal Mexican burrito.

The burrito was not horrible but lacked a fresh taste, lack of veggies, and no tomatoes. Tomatoes are one of the significant items in most So-Cal Mexican burritos! The tortilla was horrible, but honestly, I never have had a decent tortilla in Japan.

In addition, the price for a small burrito is way overhyped and not worth $11.

The one pretty rad thing was the variety of hot sauces they have available. That is quite rare in Japan.

I will say it again and again until I find a legit spot. These self-proclaim authentic California spots need to relax on their hardcore marketing and pay attention to authenticity before imitating a concept. It is like walking into a fusion sushi joint in California that only sells nasty sauced drenched cut rolls and claims they serve authentic Japanese food.

The staff also needs to get off the "too cool" attitude. It never ceases to amaze me that these businesses who model themselves after the states are so rude. Is that how they view customer service in the states?

Reply to the owner: I am not comparing your place to a “chain” restaurant like Taco Bell or Del Taco in California. I am honestly comparing you to other gourmet-style Cali burritos that you are...

🌮 Lovely place with great atmosphere and fantastic staff! 🌮

We picked Crazy Burrito Kobe for breakfast as it was open on Saturday morning and had vegan options. When we arrived it turned out they have full separate vegetarian/vegan menu which is a massive plus.

Another unlikely thing for Japan was accommodating the ingredients according to your wishes - anything you don't like can be taken out or substituted for something else. And you don't lose anything from the overall burrito bulk, as all 4 available sizes are made to weight - you might get a bit more rice to meet the size.

The place is quite small, there's a small table inside with 4 spaces (but it's so small I see max 2 people sitting there), a counter with 5 spots, and a table outside. There's also a dedicated street window for takeaway orders.

The atmosphere is excellent, you're surrounded with Mexican/American themes and listen to western music. One great touch was a selection of hot sauces, including Fiery Hot Habanero and a set of Beyond Death and After Death with Jolokia.

⭐ Now to the burritos - excellent! Made with the highest Japanese care and precision, I bet meeting the size to the gram. All ingredients were fresh, the meat was tasty, the overall impression was really great. If I was ever again in Kobe I would happily visit this place again. ⭐

🇬🇧 I also have to commend the bilingual menus (JP-EN), which did not force us to use any translation apps not even for a second. Another commendation goes to one of the staff members whose English was one of the best I've heard in Japan. 🇬🇧

🤘 If you're a fan burritos and/or like/need vegan food - absolutely give...

Nov 2019 My girlfriend and I went here back in November of 2019. We hoped it would fill our urge for Cali-Mex food. I grew up in Southern California so perhaps I was expecting something closer to home with taste. We were left a little disappointed with the flavor, but the size on par with California size burritos. I couldn't complain much about the flavor though considering there are virtually no other Mexican style restaurants in Kobe. At this time I would have given maybe 3 stars.

Nov 2019: Pros •Big portion size •English menu •Friendly staff •Comfortable environment •Take-Out window

Cons •Flavor wasn't developed enough •Small seating area •Medium wait time

July 2020 Yesterday we went back and it seems the flavor has gotten a lot better. I had the Spicy Double Steak, Cheese and Avocado burrito, always Big size! My mouth was burning from how spicy it was, we were so happy with the development of flavors too!

July 2020: Pros •Great flavor •Big portion size •English menu •Friendly staff •Comfortable environment •Take-Out window •Fast service

Cons •Small seating area (though not a problem with Corona virus situation, we got take-out)

Overall, we were very happy with our latest visit. We are definitely going back again soon! This time we are...

Service was excellent! Very friendly staff, looks like a popular place. Cozy little shop with just a few seats. Nice selection, but: it tastes like every thing was made with Costco taco mix. It’s basically all the same flavor. There’s a bit too much of a cumin thing going on. We got the double cheese avocado chicken, steak, and sausage burritos, again, pretty much the same flavor. The chips were pretty meh, as well. It reminds me of making cheap fajitas at home, or even like a fancy Taco Bell. Quesadilla was great, and it was pretty nostalgic to have a Root Beer and Dr Pepper…But, for these prices, it really felt like a bad deal—we probably won’t go back. I guess we’ve been spoiled by El Zocalo in Osaka. Sorry!
