Hishimeki-ya Kōbe Ekimae — Restaurant in Kobe

Found this gem of a restaurant via Google, based on distance and ratings. It’s only a 3-5min walk away from Kobe Station. Luckily was able to get seated without reservation this time (though highly recommended!) My wife and I previously have had a set meal for $100 USD each, and we disappointingly received only a small 6 ounce amount of Kobe beef each (albeit the best we’ve ever had)! This restaurant is a grill-it-yourself style, and as long as you take care to not overcook your beef, it is an excellent value! Spent about the same $75 USD per person, but with multiple more selection of meats, side dishes, and desserts. Just take a look at the pics! They use a QR code based web-app that lets you order and it has English translation. One recommendation to to look for the “Insort” (poor translation?) category for combo plate of recommended...

I had a fantastic experience at Hishimeki-ya Kōbe Ekimae. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented—especially the grilled dishes, which were cooked to perfection. It’s honestly one of the best places I’ve ever had beef. Everything was amazing. I will be thinking about this place even after going back home to Australia, where we’re also supposed to be well known for beef. Australia has nothing compared to what this place offers. I’d argue it’s cheaper than what it should be. You’re in for a treat if you come here but you’ll also dream of coming back...
