Read moreI recently dined at TAKAKURA, a Kobe beef restaurant that promised an upscale experience but left me with mixed feelings. While the ambiance was stylish and the overall vibe seemed designed for photo opportunities, a few aspects didn’t quite live up to expectations.
The staff were friendly and courteous, though they fell short when it came to offering detailed expertise about Kobe beef. It would have been nice to receive more insightful information about what sets this beef apart, considering the premium price point.
As for the food, the beef itself was flavorful and tender, capturing that signature Kobe richness. However, I found that the steak and accompanying vegetables were cooked with too much oil, which overwhelmed the natural taste of the beef. Additionally, the enforced policy of serving one steak per person felt unnecessary and a bit commercial, as if the focus was more on quantity for the sake of impressing on social media rather than truly enhancing the dining experience.
Overall, while TAKAKURA offers a pleasant atmosphere and decent food, the experience came off as somewhat commercialized—more about image than culinary mastery. With a few tweaks, especially in presentation and attention to detail in cooking, it could truly stand out as an authentic Kobe...
Read moreI left here disappointed. The person who explained my order spoke very good English. The person who took my order spoke very little English. They did not repeat my order back to me.
The meal was quality except for the Kobe Beef, the most important part. The meat was particularly chewy, I ordered the 165G portion of the rare cut Kobe and they apparently served me the Kobe red meat cut that was chewy. I had my suspicion during the meal and it was confirmed upon receiving the check.
Very disappointing as tonight was my one and only night in Kobe. Another guest next to me ACTUALLY ordered the chewy steak and the women who spoke great English taking her order said “Are you sure? It’s quite chewy?” For some reason the lady wanted to proceed 🤯, they did not give me the same courtesy.
Why sell Kobe beef that is chewy and low quality? I recommended the person taking the order speak English as you serve primarily tourists and we are spending good money for...
