One of the best meals I've ever had regarding service, food and general experience. Beef was incredible and really good value considering the quality and expertise of the chef. Below is a full review of every course.
First course: yellow tail hamachi, roast beef and pumpkin soup Yellowtail was super clean tasting, some of the sashimi I've ever had, served with grape and shiso leaf which cut through the richness perfectly. Roast beef was served cold with lightly picked radish and a sauce, super succulent with a nice beefy undertone cut through with the radish. Not normally a big soup guy but the pumpkin soup was decedent and creamy and not too tasting of pumpkin
Second course: savoury egg custard Next course was a savoury egg custard, with miso soup over the top, with slow roasted beef which was very tender, nice soft texture and good palate cleanser
Third course: salad Next course was this light, refreshing summer salad, with a orange and i think Caesar dressing, delicious and nice to have some greenery
Fourth course: the Kobe beef Next was the beef, cooked in it's own fat served with vegetables also cooked in the fat. Incredible beefy flavour that was melt in your mouth and super soft. They allow you to serve it how you like with whatever salt and sauce you like. Some of the best beef I've ever had, only thing that is similar was the fallow beef which I somewhat prefer as less rich and a beefier flavour due to the age of the ex-dairy cows. I went for the 150g sirloin and it was a perfect amount of beef and accompaniments.
Following that they serve you miso soup with steamed rice, I paid extra to have garlic fried rice which was served with little bits of beef cut up inside and fried in the fat, super delicious and a nice blend of flavours
Then they fry bean sprouts with the bits of fat itself, super rich and sumptuous.
Final course: desert Following that you can choose English tea, green tea and coffee, I chose English tea but it wasn't English tea as we know it, very floral with a desert of vanilla ice cream which was very creamy and light, with a small creamy sponge cake and some fruit which we didn't know what it was.
In total it was £246 between two people, with drinks included in that price (amazing beer aswell). Definitely worth it for an experience...
Read moreAs a tourist hailing from the USA on my first trip to Japan, I had the pleasure of dining at Kobe Beef Steak Ishida Main-Shop, located in the heart of Kobe. The experience was nothing short of extraordinary.
One of my highlights was undoubtedly the Kobe beef. Renowned for its flavor, tenderness, and well-marbled texture, it lived up to its reputation. Yes, the price point was on the higher side, but the culinary delight that is Kobe beef made every penny spent feel like a worthwhile investment in a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
The ambiance of the restaurant complemented the meal perfectly, providing a cozy yet refined setting that enhanced the overall dining experience. But what truly set this experience apart was the chef, Minoru (ミノル). His professionalism and meticulous attention to detail were evident in every slice of beef served. The way he prepared the food was not just cooking; it was an art form, executed with precision and care that bordered on reverence for the ingredients. One he knew that I was Mexican, he pulled out his Spanish. And was delighted he could speak it with someone.
For those considering a visit, be prepared for an expense, but also for an unforgettable culinary journey. It’s a must-visit for any food enthusiast looking to indulge in the authentic taste of Japan’s finest Kobe beef.

Read moreGood food. Reasonably good service. I thought the prices were quite reasonable to find that after I checked the bill, I was hit with a service fee and tax on top. The food is up to expectations but the one down the road (see my reviews in October 2017) was just as good, quite a lot cheaper, the chef was more talkative and he prepared the garlic chips live rather than preprepared. The foie gras was good but not amazing. The sauce for the scallops were out of place and tasted more Italian than Japanese. In short don’t get the foie gras and scallop options BUT GET THE FRIED RICE OPTION!! We didn’t get it and the rice went really well with the beef, soy sauce and mustard but the couple next to us go it and it looked and smelt amazing plus the faces on the couple when they ate it was clearly worth it. I’ve attached some pics of the fried rice being prepared. Make sure you book in advance but not more than the month prior because they don’t open their schedule until the 1st of the month prior. English is not great but they do a good job to try. Wine list is a little weak. Felt a little burnt on the service fee and tax after the fact but I’m sure it’s stated in the menu somewhere and probably my carelessness. Worth going but let’s say there’s...
