das fleisch KöniG — Restaurant in Kochi

This was such a lovely surprise and I feel like every time I walk this shopping street I find another gem.

Das Fleisch Konig is tucked away on the fourth floor overlooking the central park connected to the shopping street. There is a very small elevator that takes you up or you can take the stairs.

I wasn't expecting to have one of the best pretzels I've ever had here but that was not the last surprise. The potato salad is also exceptional and, if my health allowed it, I would have it at every meal. The beer bread they serve along some of the side dishes is also excellent and really has a deep flavor from the beer they use to make it.

The Bolognese was also so decadent and really fits the title of "steakhouse Bolognese" with how loaded with beef it was. I can also recommend the sausage having tried it on a previous trip although don't expect a large German sausage as these still seem to lean towards the smaller side.

The flavor of everything I have had here shows how much dedication the very friendly staff puts into serving not only authentic German style food, but also a variety of other options that I will definitely go back and try on my next trip to Kochi.

The staff is super friendly and even with my limited Japanese they were able to help me out. The ambiance is also really nice and the view of the park from the second floor is great.

I have not had the pleasure of trying the beers they have, both on tap and German imports, or the steak but I'm sure in the future I will get around to it when I have the chance.

Although it is a bit pricey, I think if you are looking for more international flair while out on the shopping street it's definitely worth...

Seriously the best steak I’ve had in Japan. They make some of the best pretzels I’ve had outside of Germany. If you’re a foreigner craving a western-style steak, or a Japanese just wanting to try one, I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Thick steak and excellently seasoned. Came here for dinner and was impressed with the quality for the price. Did the 3600 yen course which included 5 dishes and dessert. We upgraded the beef to a fillet but even then it was minimal amount for what you get. They also brew there own which was ok.
