Motsuyaki Johnny — Restaurant in Kumamoto

Shout-out to Johnny, this was an amazing experience. The locale is above a flight of stairs. Unlike a lot of other yakiniku places, they actually let solo diners eat and don't require reservations e.g. they're a lot more foreigner friendly. The ¥1500 yen AYCD menu is definitely worth it. They have a large selection and they're quick to bring your drinks. The ¥4300 yen AYCE menu was worth it for me because I eat a lot but it may not be for you. Your servers walk by to take your order. They're super polite and even though they didn't understand English they tried their best to accommodate, even squatting down so they would be eye-level when they talked to me when I was sitting. The bibimbap was actually pretty nice. So were the Johnny ribs. You cook everything yourself and it can get a bit splattery. Some of the cuts were extremely well-marbled. The cutlets were meh, I wouldn't get them. The takoyaki was good tho, so go for them. The owner even looked out for me. He cut me off a bit sooner than my time limit because he could tell I was hitting my limit of food and alcohol. If he hadn't intervened, I would have had a terrible proceeding night. I had well over 9 drinks and 18 plates when he cut me off to a final order so I went 10 drinks, 19 plates for...

This is by far the worst restaurant I’ve ever been to in Japan. While the staff were reasonably polite, that’s about the only positive thing I can say. The place is run-down, the hygiene is seriously questionable — we even found leftover grease from the previous customers under the grill.

But the worst part was the food. Everything from the meat to the side dishes was absolutely awful. The meat was so tough and flavorless, it literally reminded me of the leather belt my dad used to discipline me with as a child — completely inedible.

I came with a group of friends, and most of them gave up halfway through the meal. We figured maybe the side dishes would be better, so we ordered some takoyaki — it was undercooked. Fried chicken? Tasteless. Seaweed soup? Like drinking seawater. The food was barely edible, and although we ordered the all-you-can-eat option, we ended up going to 7-Eleven afterwards to buy bento just to feel full.

I honestly have no idea how this place has a 4.2 rating. Sure, it’s cheap, but the quality is so bad that I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. If you’re reading this, consider yourself warned — go at...

焼肉はとてもおいしく、もう3年以上よくランチ利用しています。コスパ◎で、ご飯スープおかわり可能、頼んだメニュー以外からも肉バーというメニューから5品選べます(在庫次第？)。

このお店は店員の方の対応がめちゃくちゃ良い人と悪い人の差が激しいです。

対応良い人の時は、お店の雰囲気も明るく「また来たい！」と思えます。おかわりも感じよく対応してくださるので、ジャンジャンおかわりしておいしく満足感に浸ることができます。肉バー(5品)もきちんと提供してくれます。入店時にこの人の時は心の中でガッツポーズです。 あと、間違いなく対応良い人の時は白米がうまい。

対応悪い人の時は、そもそも注文時に会話が成立しない時がある。よくわからない間があく。難しいこと言ってないんやけどね(笑) 書いているサービスやメニューが使えないことも、1度や2度ではありませんでした。肉バーもいつも在庫切れだったり量が少ない。とはいえ、ここまではこちらのタイミングも悪いとか、お店側の事情もあると思います。 酷いと思ったのが、今年の10月に訪問した際、ランチメニューがなくコースメニュー(掲載した写真のもの)しかなかった。よく利用するから「えっランチメニュー無くなったんですか？」と指摘したら、別のところからなんとランチメニューが！ドラえもんみたいやね。 私の会話を聞いていた他のテーブルのおっちゃんも『コースだけじゃないんだ。安いランチメニューもあるならそっちにしよう。』と言って頼んでいました。図らずも営業妨害してしまったようです。 他にも、過去にはランチの営業時間内の14時頃に食事していて急かされたこともあります。ホットペッパーのサイトには、当時も今も営業時間もラストオーダーも15:30と記載があります。 ここまで書いた『対応の悪い人』はいつも同じ人です。 １つだけ褒めると、退店時はとても爽やかに、なんと出口まで見送ってくれるのです。見送りはしっかりされていて心底感心します。

昨今は色々なものが値上げしています。お店側としても肉バー5品はあくまでサービス。在庫がなかったり、サービス終了することもあるでしょう。しかし、それならサービスや営業時間のことはHPにしっかり記載するとか、入店時にきちんと伝えてほしいですね。
