茶寮 器楽 — Restaurant in Kyoto

I wanted to try an authentic Kyoto dessert, and this café looked like a nice, quiet escape from the crowded street—so we decided to step in. The café is located on the second floor of a luxury souvenir shop. I ordered a set with matcha and a selected confectionary. I’m not an expert in matcha, but it tasted good to me, and it was served in an adorable bowl. The wagashi also looked delicately crafted and beautifully presented. The souvenir shop downstairs has a lot to explore, from refined crafts to elegant trinkets—but as expected, the prices aren’t cheap. Still, it’s a lovely place to browse or pick up...

There is NO HONOR among the owners/managers of this shop we visited on May 18, 2016. We negotiated with them for a Japanese style Vase and made it very clear we were able to only spend up to $300.00 American Dollars. However they charged our credit card Y300,000 which equals $3000.00 American Dollars and claimed that's what we negotiated for. The transaction was done all in English so they knew they were scamming us. This Vase is NOT an antique. ...

We found this Japanese restaurant serving meal sets on our way out after visiting Kiyomizu Dera. It is located on the second floor of a Chinaware shop. While not the most economical, food was delicious and presented in the usual pretty way. I had the beef steak rice set, something which I had ordered whenever it was available during this Osaka-Kyoto trip. I would say that this serving was probably the best one I had during the entire course...
