The worst sushi I’ve ever had—absolutely not fresh.

If you’re looking for quality sushi, this is definitely not the place to go. And don’t even bother complaining to the staff; they’ll simply deny everything. I initially raised my concerns in Japanese, but the waiter repeatedly denied what I said. When I switched to English after running out of Japanese, the waiter just said, “No English,” and walked away.

Honestly, I’m not that surprised after spending a few weeks in Japan. Japanese service can be so deceiving—outwardly polite expressions masking impolite behaviors underneath.

It’s both ironic and humiliating that a restaurant so close to one of Japan’s most iconic temples serves “sushi” like this. The tuna was sour, fibrous, and sliced paper-thin, yet they shamelessly and dishonestly labeled it as “chu-toro” on the menu, and the rice tasted like it was cooked the day before.

Avoid this place at all costs!

By the way, in Japan, it's better to check Tabelog rather than Google Maps for restaurant reviews. If a restaurant has a rating of 3.5 or higher on Tabelog, it’s likely to be good. This particular restaurant, however, is only rated 3.0, and should be rated 0 because of...

Upon visiting Kiyomizu-dera Temple, we were delighted by the numerous restaurant options. We ultimately selected this particular establishment due to the appealing appearance of the menu items. The restaurant itself was quite lovely, and we were fortunate enough to be seated by a window, offering a scenic view of Kyoto. The food was exceptionally delicious, and the service was commendable. While the staff's English proficiency was limited, we managed to order a sushi set, which was incredibly fresh. We also ordered ramen; the broth was already quite flavorful, though I personally preferred to enhance it with a touch more...

I recently dined at Shisuitei, and I was thoroughly impressed! The moment I stepped in, I was greeted with warm hospitality.

The ramen was rich and flavorful, with perfectly cooked noodles. The tempura was crispy and light, and the bento box was a delightful combination of flavors and textures.

The service was attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. Our server was happy to answer questions and made excellent recommendations.

Overall, Shisuitei is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic...

Me and my mom ate here for lunch and the food was horrible—The fish tasted old and the huge portions (of bad quality fish) made it hard to eat. All of their food is overpriced (total was ¥8k for 2 sets) so it felt like i had to finish it but in the end we left a good half of our food behind. I definitely recommend looking somewhere else to eat if you dont wanna feel like youve been ripped off

We were forced to order for every person (even though one of us wasn’t hungry), the sushi was shockingly bad—stale fish, gross texture, and ridiculously overpriced. Even convenience store sushi in Japan is better! Plus, the toilet was absolutely disgusting (see photo). Save your money guys, there are better option!

The beef set is super overcook and it dry like wood The soup, egg, meal is cold, and it's terrible The staff has no manners, and proper altitude when serving us The atmosphere are poor So far the most worst experiences in my Japan food tour. Please don't come in, run as soon as possible
