Azuma Sushi — Restaurant in Kyoto

Wow Wow Wow!!!!!!! What a great surprise! We found this sushi place in the neighborhood that we are staying in Kyoto this year. It is The best Sushi that I had during the past two years around the world. Miss Rie will be a great rising young star if she has a bigger world stage. Ingredients are very fresh and good quality, they pay attention to every detail, excellent wasabi, excellent true sushi quality of soy sauce! It’s a family operated restaurant. Super friendly service. Miss Rie’s mom is very sweet. We will be back tomorrow! Highly highly recommend! You will be as happy as our family!

My wife and I were back to Kyoto from Florida in late October, after last visit in March. We were craving for the amazing sushi from Azuma Sushi and the wonderful service. We went for two dinners there during our three day stay in Kyoto. The sushi were as delicious as our last trip. There is this wonderful news that Miss Rie is expecting her first baby in the spring of 2024. We are so thrilled for this lovely family ! We will board the plane from Orlando tomorrow and head to Kyoto for more sushi from Azuma and of course the famous Japanese foliage in late fall. This is how much we love Azuma and Kyoto, and we hope everyone not to miss this amazing sushi restaurant when in Kyoto!

This is a very special place, run by a very special woman. She told us the restaurant was started by her grandfather a century ago. She prepares Kyoto-style sushi with great care and it feels like you’re a guest in her house. The food looks and tastes fantastic to boot. I had a great chat about the history of the shop (which will soon celebrate its 100th anniversary) and took home the most delicious Kyoto-style sushi. A truly unique restaurant.

I came back the next day for more fantastic Saba sushi, but it turns out they are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and by Thursday I had left Kyoto. As they say: 一期一会
