Even though the description says 15 minutes from Nijo Castle (outstanding attraction)...it took me a long time with my luggage and lots of friendly Japanese people assisting me as I have no GPS. Better to not repeat my experience (getting lost) as bus service is available. From Kyoto Station, find Bus Platform A3 and take Bus 206 to Senbon Demizu stop. Walk the same direction as the bus until you reach a restaurant with red lanterns turning left in an alley, hostel is a short distance on the right. If you have a full day, it is better to buy a day pass for 600 Yen (regular fare is 230 Yen). The hostel staff is friendly and can accommodate your food choices (you can even cook yourself). Dorms got quite hot, but can only ask for AC temperature to be changed while the front desk staff is there until around 9pm. If you arrive before 4pm check-in time, everyone just left their bags in the entryway area. Bed is comfy and very spacious cubby (the end cubbies look smaller). They give you a lock and key for the locker included in the price. Hot showers. Only 2 toilets and 2 showers but I never had a problem when I needed them. I think there's only 2 dorm rooms here anyway, so not...
